From the Principal
Copeland families,
Thank you to our amazing PTO for all of their efforts putting on an amazing Bubble Run today. The students and staff had so much fun! Thank you for your generosity and support of our spring fundraiser. Your donations help fund things like the amazing field trips that are coming up this month for Life Skills, 1st, 3rd and 4th grades. Due to your continued support, all students had, or will have, the opportunity to take a field trip this year.
We are so proud of our 3rd grade Colts. The 3rd grade Name That Book team won district! This is the first time we have ever won the entire competition. What an accomplishment! The grade level also did an amazing job at their program this past Tuesday. Thank you to Ms. Vigil and the PEAM team for all of their hard work prepraring such a wonderful show. We are looking forward to the 1st grade show at the end of the month, on April 30th.
Don't forget that April 15th is a teacher workday. We also have STAAR testing coming up. Please make every effort to have your child to school on time daily, but especially on testing days.
April 17th: 3rd-5th Reading STAAR
April 18th: 5th Science STAAR
April 23rd: 2nd-5th Math STAAR
Don't forget to save the date for Movie Night coming up on May 3rd. This is always a great event put on by our PTO.
It is hard to believe we are in the last nine weeks of school. I know our Colts are going to finish the school year strong!
Thank you for you always supporting Copeland. It is truly the BEST school in the district!

CFPD's Jumper Pays a Visit to a Special Colt
We had a surprise visitor from CFPD’s K-9 unit. One of Ms. Cox’s students, Emmoree Peña, wrote a letter to CFPD K-9 before Spring Break, and the officer and Jumper paid her a visit on March 28! He came in person to answer her questions.

These students worked so hard to achieve this goal and we are all so proud of them! Congratulations on a job well done, Colts!

On March 28, our Book Club met and discussed Home Away From Home by Cynthia Lord. Our book club members always enjoy great dialogue and enthusiastic character discussion! They learn so much about symbolism and plot from these meetings together. These kids are absolutely brilliant readers!
Comfort Dog Trains at Copeland
On March 25 & 26, our Copeland Library hosted a special guest, comfort dog-in-training, Denver, the golden retriever. Denver comes from Interquest, like Trixie, and will be a part of T.W. Ogg Elementary in Brazosport, where he will serve alongside their counselor to serve students and staff alike. We were so excited to let Denver get a little practice in before he moves on to Ogg Elementary! He will be a PAW-fect addition to their school!
