BORMAN BLAST
AUGUST 2024 FAMILY NEWSLETTER
WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING?
Hello Families! First, I want to say hello and welcome to Borman K-8 School and the 24-25 school year. I hope you had a wonderful and safe summer, PCS went smoothly for those of you that had to move, and are ready to dive back into another school year! We made some excellent progress last year with students, continued to close achievement gaps, and do what's best for kids. Our team of educators works tirelessly to bring a high-quality, inviting, inclusive, and fun education to your children. Please see the sections below for specific information. Please also see our Borman K-8 Facebook page for more timely announcements.
Some new things and initiatives we have going on for the 24-25 SY are:
- Borman is now a Title One school - this brings additional funding and requirements.
- Borman will be the first Purple Star School in Tucson and only the third in Arizona (we are working on the approval process).
- Our Middle School operates as an accelerated/honors program with GATE Science.
Last, We have some exciting news to share coming up soon! Stay tuned.
*This is a live document and may change as additional information and dates are added.
Thank you,
Mr. Huss - Principal

First SEVEN DAYS ONLY - parents of K-2 students will be allowed to walk their child to line in the K-2 playground area and stand with their child in line. If absolutely necessary, you may walk with your child to their class. Please encourage your child to walk with their class. Lines are marked with a cone with the teacher's name on them. Parents of 3-8 students will need to sign in at the front office if you wish to walk your child to class. 3-8 parents may also walk to outside line-up areas if needed(for the first seven days only). We will have them marked with cones and teacher's names. The 3-5 students line up behind the school in various locations. The 6-8 middle school students congregate under the tree in the SW corner of the school or on the 3-8 playground. No students are allowed in the school except for breakfast. Doors open at 7:45 for breakfast.
Starting August 12th, the school will go to full security and single point of entry through the office. K-2 students only will be allowed through the gate at the K-2 playground. If you still need to walk a child to class, you will have to sign in at the front office and wear a visitor badge. We appreciate everyone's cooperation with this as we want to have our school as secure and safe as possible.
On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, school ends at 2:30 for K-5 and 3:15 for 6-8. On Wednesday, school ends one hour earlier for teacher PD and planning. Please pick your students up promptly as our monitors leave soon after school ends each day.
Please be patient when dropping off or picking up your student/s in the round-about. Pull forward as far as you can and have your child exit or enter the vehicle as quickly as possible. If you are stuck in traffic along Lightning Drive, please do not drive down the opposite lane to go around. The jam usually moves along in a few minutes. Also, please do not park in the staff parking lot unless you have business in the front office. There is plenty of parking in the dirt outside of the staff lot and across the street.
