Message from Mrs. Wilken
Dear Stone Ranch Elementary School Community,
I hope this message finds you all in high spirits as we dive into our first full week of May and another wonderful week of learning and growth together. This week we celebrate our amazing talented and passionate teachers! Please make sure to check out the calendar events below to see how you can make your child’s teacher feel extra special and loved this week!
Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Family Paper Picnic last Friday. Your generous donations of reams of paper truly exemplify the spirit of our supportive community. It's heartwarming to see how everyone comes together to ensure our students have the resources they need to thrive.
As we continue our journey through the month of May, I want to take a moment to remind our families of students in third through fifth grades about the importance of good rest and solid nutrition, especially as we navigate through the CAASPP standardized testing period. Ensuring our students are well-rested and nourished sets the stage for success, both in and out of the classroom. Your support in reinforcing these habits at home is appreciated.
Additionally, I want to wish everyone a belated Happy Cinco de Mayo! I hope those who celebrated enjoyed a joyful and festive time with loved ones.
Always Proud to Be Your Principal,
Mrs. Wilken

HERO's
Congratulations to this week's Attendance HERO's! Mrs. Doig's 3rd grade class, and Mrs. Kay's 2nd and 3rd Grade class, were Here Everyday Ready On time to learn! These classes had at least 95% of HERO students the past 2 weeks and received a special visit from Mrs. Wilken, received a trophy, a prize, a $25 Amazon gift card for the teacher, AND had an extra recess! Keep up the great attendance, Trailblazers.
Please remember these tips:
- Avoid scheduling vacations when school is in session. They are considered unexcused absences.
- Build regular routines for bedtime and the morning.
- Lay out clothes and pack backpacks the night before.
- Talk about the importance of regular attendance and about how your child feels about school.
- Don’t permit missing school unless your child is truly sick. Use a thermometer to check for a fever. Remember that stomach aches and headaches may be signs of anxiety.
- If your child seems anxious about going to school, talk to teachers, school counselors, or other parents for advice on how to help your child feel comfortable and excited about learning.
- Avoid medical appointments when school is in session.
- Keep a chart recording your child’s attendance at home. At the end of the week, talk with your child about what you see.
- Develop back up plans for getting to school if something comes up. Ask a family member, neighbor or another parent for help.
- Seek support from school staff or community groups to help with transportation, health problems, or no safe path to school.

Attendance & Health
Be a HERO - Learning Begins at 7:45 am
Teachers open their classroom doors at 7:40.
Students should be walking through the classroom door between 7:40 - 7:43 so that they are seated and read to learn when the school bell day begins at 7:45am.
Please help your learner arrive to school no later 7:38am.
Students who arrive to the classroom after the 2nd bell @ 7:45am will be marked tardy.
Absences
If your child(ren) will not be attending school, please notify our office by leaving a message on our 24 hr. absence hotline at (858) 521-0213. Provide your name and relationship to the child, your child's name and teacher, and the reason for their absence. If your child is sick, please provide detailed symptoms of their illness.
It is recommended that you test your child for Covid if these symptoms are present: congestion, runny nose, sore throat, headache, cough, fever, chills, nausea or vomiting, and/or diarrhea, difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle/body aches, loss of taste or smell. We only need to know if your child tests positive, and we will contact you.
If your child(ren) are sick, they may return if their symptoms are improving and they are free from fever/vomiting/diarrhea without medication for 24 hours before returning to school.
Thank you for your help in keeping our campus healthy and happy!

Although all students now receive school breakfast and lunch at no charge, families are still encouraged to complete the More Than A Meal Free Application (formerly known as Free and Reduced Lunch Application).
Healthy Food Choices
School Breakfast and Lunch are great ways to help students eat healthy.
Our school policy states that families do not send in food treats for birthdays. If you want to celebrate a birthday, please consider ways other than food and please make sure you connect with your child's classroom teacher to see what their classroom policy or recommendation is.
All Classroom parties will follow nutritional guidelines from the District.
