Message from the Principal
Dear Kennedy High School Families and Community,
I hope this message finds you well. I want to take a moment to highlight some important upcoming events that will benefit our students and our community.
It was truly inspiring to see the RSVP assembly take place last Friday, where our students used their voices to explore Kennedy’s opportunities for growth. This example of student voice and advocacy is vital for Kennedy’s growth and success and our students’ own understanding of how to improve their community.
First, I am excited to announce our College and Career Fair on October 14th from 5-8 PM at the Anaheim Convention Center. This is an invaluable opportunity for our students to explore their future paths and connect with various colleges and career opportunities. The fair will feature representatives from CSUs, UCs, private colleges and universities, out-of-state colleges and universities, community colleges, CTE exhibitions, careers and community resources, AUHSD high schools, and an AUHSD junior high expo. To make it even more exciting, we will be raffling off five winter formal tickets for attendees who complete the College & Career Fair Scavenger Hunt. We look forward to seeing our students and families at the Kennedy High School booth!
I also want to acknowledge that October 14th is Indigenous Peoples' Day. It’s a time for reflection and education about the rich history and contributions of Indigenous peoples, and I encourage everyone to take part in discussions that honor this important day. It is also important to acknowledge the Anaheim Union High School District is on Tongva land and recognize their longstanding history that has brought us here on their land today.
On October 16th, our ASB will be hosting a blood drive—a great way for our students to give back to the community and help those in need. All donors will receive a gift card of their choice and a free blood donor t-shirt. If your student is interested, please ask them to check their email for a link to sign up and sign the parent consent form.
Additionally, please note that Kennedy will join the millions of people across California in the California ShakeOut drill on October 17th to ensure our students are prepared for emergencies. We will also be conducting Level 1 and Level 2 Lockdown Drills on this day.
In sports, we have a busy week ahead! Join us for a Girls’ Flag Football home game against Valencia on Tuesday, followed byGirls’ Tennis facing off against Western and Girls’ Volleyball competing against Tustin on Wednesday. We also have our Varsity Girls’ Golf team playing against Tustin on Thursday. Don’t miss our Cross Country meet at Oak Canyon Park this Saturday—let’s show our support for our Fighting Irish !
Thank you for your continued support and engagement in our school community. Together, we can make these events successful and enriching for our students.
Warm regards,
Poppy Hill-Bonales

District Volunteer Process
The district has rolled out with a new volunteer process this school year. You must register through the Raptor system and choose between Tier 1 and Tier 2.
Tier 2 clearance allows volunteers to participate in prolonged student contact such as overnight trips with students, but requires a tuberculosis test and fingerprint. All other general volunteer participation would be Tier 1.
If you are interested in volunteering for any program on campus, you must sign up and attend an orientation held by the district. Please see the flyers below for more information (you can click on the flyer).
Coffee with the Principal
We are having our next joint Coffee with the Principal at Walker JHS on October 24th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Partnering with Waymakers, we are having a Drug-Free presentation to help you identify signs and live a drug-free lifestyle. We will also have this livestreamed virtually. Please use the bit.ly link to join us.
Hope to see you there!
Parent Leadership Academy
The district is proud to present the newly revamped Parent Leadership Academy (PLA). This four-week series of sessions will help parents develop leadership skills and bring those skills back to their school community. There are a limited number of spots available for Kennedy. Participants must commit to attending all four sessions. I will be doing a drawing of names after collecting responses from a Google Form. We will have the flyer available in Korean soon. I am excited to partner with you soon!!
