Teachers and Staff,
As you know, we are required by the BIE and Department of Dine Education to complete an external evaluation of our TCS programs each September. Once again, we have recruited Dr. Joseph P. Martinez of the Center for PositivePractices to conduct the evaluation and produce the report. It is important that we all participate in an online or in-person interview or focus group and also complete a brief survey online at https://bit.ly/tcs-survey-online. Progress Reports
Our front office will be mailing Progress Reports to our parents/guardians.
Conference: Parent/ Teacher Conferences for students that are failing your class would benefit students to pick up their grade before the end of the first nine weeks. By involving parents/guardians early on, you can build the rapport to help students improve. You may discuss the areas where the student is struggling and create an action plan with steps the student and parent/guardian can follow. If needed, a follow-up meeting to discuss student’s performance.
Parent/Teacher Conferences can take place before school, after school or during your prep. Please notify the front office and front security if you have scheduled an appointment.
You may also contact parents/guardians to highlight academic achievement, strengths, goals, attendance, etc…

Heavy Equipment Rodeo and Job Fair
On October 4, 2024, all students in grades 9th thru 12th grade will attend the AGC New Mexico & ACE Leadership Heavy Equipment Rodeo & CIEF Trades Day.
High School Sponsors: Please complete a field trip request form for your grade level by Wednesday, September 18, 2024.
Permission slips are required to attend the field trip.

Resume
Students are encouraged to bring their resumes with them and take advantage of a resume review session. Two weeks before the event, instructors will receive information about pre-assignment students are able to complete. This pre-assignment will give students a glimpse into what companies will be at the event and will foster more engagement and interest.

We’re excited to announce that AGC New Mexico, and ACE Leadership are partnering with CIEF to put on the 2024 AGC New Mexico & ACE Leadership Heavy Equipment Rodeo & CIEF Trades Day! – A Day for Construction Career Exploration! Our upcoming career exploration event is designed to introduce high school youth to a variety of career opportunities in the construction industry. This is a chance for your students to meet industry professionals one-on-one as they provide hands-on demonstrations in a “job fair-like” setting. Did I mention it is FREE for all participating schools?!

We also encourage students to bring their resumes with them and take advantage of a resume review session. Upon arrival, students will go through a brief safety tailgate talk before heading into the Exhibit Halls.
**Lunch is TBD, but please plan on planning accordingly for dietary needs** We hope you can join us this year!
PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCE
FALL FESTIVAL - OCTOBER 30, 2024
As we prepare for our annual Fall Festival, we ask that you begin planning your class's booth for the event. Each class is encouraged to sponsor a fun booth for families to enjoy. Please submit a requisition for up to $75 to cover any decorations or prizes you may need.
All staff members are required to stay for the event, either by sponsoring a booth or by being assigned to assist in a designated area. This event is always a hit with our families, and your involvement is greatly appreciated.
Requisition Amount: $75.00
Submission Deadline: September 20th by 4:00 pm

Write Tools Training - Mandatory for Instructional Staff

On October 15, 2024, all instructional staff (teachers and education assistants along with administration) will attend the mandatory Write Tools training.

Reminders Student Supervision
1. Secondary teachers please stand outside your classes during transitions. Hallways need to be monitored.
2. All teachers please follow bus duty, there should be teachers on the bus to supervise students and behaviors at the end of day. Early release Wednesday we can have two teachers, one Elementary teacher and one Secondary teacher supervising as buses are full and behaviors can result.

Teacher Evaluation Information
Ms. Carroll will be meeting with teachers and EA's to review the teacher evaluation system for this SY 24-25. Please review the identified teacher/EA TCS domains in preparation for your upcoming individual session.
After this initial meeting, professional development plans will be due September 30, 2024 in hard copy to Ms. Carroll.
A calendar will be shared with teachers and EA's based on your availability to meet over the next three weeks in September.
Native American Student Information System - Information Management & Technology (IMT)
Teachers,
Please follow instruction sent by Varlene Johnson, School Registrar/Office Manager on how to establish your eDOIU login for Information Management & Technology (IMT). This training is required for teachers to access the Native American Student Information System (NASIS). NASIS is used to take daily student attendance. If you need assistance, please reach out to Varlene Johnson.

Canoncito Band of Navajos Health Center (CBNHC)
CBNHC medical and behavioral health team will continue to provide services to students every Tuesday morning at the Teen Center portable building.
Dual College Courses
New Mexico State University
Dr. Shawn Secatero will be offering two NMSU courses to our 9th, 10th and 11th grade students.
ELAD 2210 LEADERSHIP AND CHANGE
This course is open to only TCS students as a hybrid class. Students will meet on the last two Wednesdays of each month from 1:15 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. and they can also submit their assigned work on CANVAS.
ELAD 2340 MULTICULTURAL LEADERSHIP
This course is an online course and available to all NMSU Grants students including dual credit. The TCS students who have already taken LEAD 2210 can take this course if they want to earn more college credits. They can also meet and attend class on the Wednesdays of each month from 1:15 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. in the computer lab.

First two Wednesday's of the month will follow normal full day schedule.
Last two Wednesday's of the month will be early release Wednesday schedule.
* To remain consistent Wednesday schedule will remain regardless of holiday/school closure or no school to avoid disruption for teachers and parents.
BUS COUNT WEEK
Due to this important funding data, we will need to add an additional full day Wednesday in the month of September. On September 25 this day will be a full day Wednesday however important events like JROTC and Dual Credit will remain on regular schedule. Students will report to these classes and will be dismissed from their regular education classes to attend JROTC and Dual Credit, arrangements for coverage for those teachers who sponsor these events will be made.

Please follow radio usage:
Please label your radios with your name so when they are turned into the front office we can return them to the owners.
Radios must be carried at all times from the beginning of your tour of duty to the end of your tour of duty.
When initiating a call on the radio, first identify who you wish to contact (e.g. Front Office), then identify yourself (E.g. Your name)..
C.A.N. Channel (#1)= For emergency use only for fire drill, shelter-in-place, lockdown, and return to normal operation. All teachers and education assistants are to have channel C.A.N.(#1) on your two-way radio.
***Please do not use C.A.N. station for any other purpose.
ADMIN Channel (#2) = Used daily by security, maintenance, front office, custodians, bus drivers and administration.
