Message from Ms. Lahey
Greetings Hembree Families,
What an incredible week we've had! Book Character Day was an absolute hit with both the staff and students. I truly enjoy these events. November is here, and this semester seems to be flying by. Keep an eye out for details regarding our Thanksgiving Feast on November 20th.
We're also excited about Literacy Night coming up on Thursday, November 7th. Below are the specifics for the event. We have around 90 RSVPs so far, but we would love to see around 200 families join us for this fantastic occasion. We hope to see you there!
A quick reminder: don’t forget to set your clocks back an hour this weekend before heading to bed on Saturday night. GO DAWGS!!!!
The information below is a repeat from last week. We kindly ask for your help with the parent perception survey. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we appreciate your support.
Attendance is Key
Please take a look at the graphic below regarding attendance and late arrivals. Your assistance in ensuring our students are present and on time is crucial in helping us achieve our goals. Thank you for your understanding!
We Need Your Input!
It's that time of year again for our Annual Parent Perception Survey. Your participation is essential, as the results will influence our strategic goals and our school report card. Please refer to the letter below to complete the survey. Thank you in advance for your involvement!
At Fulton County Schools, we truly value the feedback from our parents about their experiences with the district. That is why I encourage all parents to take the Annual Parent Perception Survey. This survey allows parents the opportunity to tell us what they think about their student’s schools and the district. While we always make it a priority to listen to our parents, this survey affords us another opportunity to receive your thoughts and opinions.
The survey is anonymous and confidential. Please complete one survey per school where you have one or more students enrolled. The survey will remain open from Wednesday, October 16 through Friday, November 22.
It’s not only parents we want to hear from. Our students’ opinions are important too! Students in grades 3-12 will be provided with the opportunity to take the Annual Student Perception Survey between October 17 and November 22 during the school day. In our ongoing efforts to remain transparent with parents, please take a moment to review the 3-5 student survey
The Annual Perception Survey is currently available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Hindi, and Punjabi. If you or your family would like to take it in a language that is not listed, please email your child’s principal.
The parent FAQ is now available in:
To access the parent survey, click https://www.fultonschools.org/AnnualParentSurvey or scan the QR code with a smartphone. Thank you in advance for making your voice heard!
Have a great weekend!

Counselor's Corner
November is a wonderful time to focus on gratitude with your child. Research shows that practicing gratitude can boost mood, improve relationships, and increase overall happiness. Here are a few simple ways to practice gratitude at home this month:
1. Gratitude Jar: Set up a gratitude jar where family members can drop in notes about things they’re thankful for. At the end of the month, read them together to reflect on all the positives!
2. Daily Gratitude Moments: Make it a routine to share something you’re thankful for each day, perhaps at breakfast or dinner. This small habit can make a big difference in cultivating a positive mindset.
3. Thank You Notes: Encourage your child to write a note or draw a picture for someone they appreciate—a friend, family member, or teacher. It’s a simple way to show kindness and build connections.
Thank you for supporting your child’s social-emotional growth. Wishing you a month full of gratitude and joy!
Warm regards,
Shannon Reynolds

Treats for Troops
The PE Department wants to keep our students healthy during this candy-filled time of year. Have your child bring in 10-15 pieces of Halloween candy in a bag. We will collect candy from Oct. 28th – Nov. 8th, and they will receive a no jogging pass as a thank you.
This candy will be donated to the men and women in the military.
Thanks!

Beanstack! Help us reach our school wide reading goal of 50,000 minutes!
Have you heard your child mention anything about an app called Beanstack? It was introduced in the Media Center. Beanstack is a digital reading log that students can use to log the number of minutes they are reading. They can earn badges and rewards along the way. This year, we have a schoolwide reading goal of 50,000 minutes! We can’t reach our goal without the help of your child! If your child is reading at school, home, daycare, etc. they can log their minutes and help us get closer to our goal. The following is a video explaining how to use Beanstack from home. You can always find your child's lunch number/student number in infinite campus or email Mrs. Soberanis: soberanis@fultonschools.org. Happy Reading!
