SOS Program
We are offering depression awareness and suicide prevention training as part of the Signs of Suicide (SOS) program. The program aims to increase help-seeking behaviors among students concerned about themselves or a friend.
This program will be presented to all freshmen during PE SPARK lessons on Monday, March 4th, and Tuesday, March 5th. The SOS program is brought to us by Elyssa’s Mission, a nonprofit organization dedicated to suicide prevention. Elyssa’s Mission is the only organization in the state of Illinois to fund, distribute, and implement SOS. To get more information on suicide prevention, visit their website at www.elyssasmission.org.
Please read this SOS letter to parents from Principal McWilliams.

Spring Sports Reminder
As a reminder as we start to get back outside next week for spring sports, according to the student handbook under 1.60 "In order to assure student health and safety, animals are not allowed on school property, except in the case of a service animal accompanying a student or other individual with a documented disability. This rule may be temporarily waived by the building principals in the case of an educational opportunity for students, provided that (a) the animal is appropriately housed, humanely cared for, and properly handled, and (b) students will not be exposed to a dangerous animal or an unhealthy environment."
Parking at BHS
Students with school-issued parking passes are the only ones allowed to park on campus. Students who are found to be violating the parking policy (link here) are at risk of losing parking privileges for the next academic school year. Also, students are to park in either the Hart Rd. lot or the stadium. If they park in staff parking they are subject to a ticket from the Barrington Police Department. Thank you for your cooperation.
Barrington 220 Board of Education wants your feedback!
Thanks to the community’s support for Barrington 220's referendum in 2020, the district's Build 220 initiative has made tremendous progress in renovating our aging school buildings and transforming learning spaces for students. However, much work is still needed to ensure our students learn in schools that meet our community’s high expectations.
Barrington 220 is holding four community engagement meetings in March to gain stakeholder feedback about projects that should be included in a potential referendum question on the November 2024 election ballot. Together, we will develop a community-driven plan so all Barrington 220 students have access to the quality education they deserve. These meetings are open to the public. Each meeting will feature a presentation, along with an opportunity for stakeholders to ask questions. Please note that each meeting will have the same agenda. Click here to learn more!

SAT Date Change!
BHS JUNIORS - OPTIONAL SAT PREP
On April 18th, Juniors will be taking the SAT at Barrington High School. Students are familiar with the digital format after completing the digital NMSQT/PSAT this past October. In addition, continuing to do well in their current classes will continue to develop students' knowledge base. However, we also want to encourage students and families to consider taking advantage of additional test prep opportunities.
SAT PREP OPTIONS FOR ALL JUNIORS
1) Academic Tutoring & Test Prep is a 3rd party vendor that is specifically offering sessions for BHS students for a fee. They will be offering an ONLINE prep program in the evenings for 6 weeks leading up to the April SAT, These online classes are open only to BHS students. More info can be found in this Informational Pamphlet
2) Free prep resources are available from College Board and Khan Academy.

See Something, Say Something
The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority and we commit to offering a safe
and secure educational environment. Barrington 220 is now partnering with an Illinois school safety helpline aimed at providing students a place to report information that might prevent bullying, suicide, and campus violence. Safe2Help is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It allows students to confidentially share school safety issues via a mobile app, text, email, or phone call. You will notice that the "See Something, Say Something" button on our district and school website now links directly to the Safe2Help contact page. We are asking that all students, parents, staff, and community members now use this platform to report safety concerns. In the case of an emergency, call 911.BARRINGTON HIGH SCHOOL
