Tiger Update
Information/Updates about Pickerington High School Central
Message from Mr. Lanier
Welcome back for the stretch run of the first semester. Starting Monday, Dec. 2, we have 15 days of school remaining until we leave for winter break. Our message to our learning community is all about focusing on finishing strong. We are asking everyone to not be satisfied with where they are and to look for the things to improve to push us closer to our goals. One of the things that our students struggle with is keeping a growth mindset with their classes; their extracurricular activities; and their social interactions. So often we hear our students say that they can't do something instead of looking for ways to continue to advance toward success. Simon Sinek talks about the importance of having an infinite mindset. He does an excellent job reminding all of us that context is important and that strengths can become weaknesses and weaknesses can become strengths depending on the timing and context of how they are perceived. We all wish we had this perspective growing up and how cool would it be to help our students find this focus at their age so they can start to grow in confidence about their journeys?
Take some time to talk to your student about their strengths and weaknesses. Help them find the mindset to keep growing and improving; one setback is not failure unless you stop trying!!
Let's have a great week of learning.
Tiger Up,
Mr. Lanier

Construction Update
Students will notice a lot of changes to the building when they return from Thanksgiving break. The temporary construction walls have been removed and you can now see the renovated library and flexible learning space downstairs along with the renovated classrooms above the library. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE SPACES ARE NOT OPEN YET!! We will remind students that this is still an active construction area and they need to stay out of it until it is officially open. We will use the space starting AFTER winter break when we return in January!!
We know that everyone will be excited but we need to be patient and let the contractors finish their work.
OST Fall Testing Session Begins December 3
The Fall OST testing window opens on Tuesday, December 3. This session is for students who are RETESTING in areas where they have not met the state requirements for graduation.
