Paine Students Use Book Creator to Study Weather Paine Students Use Book Creator to Study Weather

Book Creator at Paine

Mrs. Findley's class researched weather on PebbleGo and each child wrote 2 sentences about the weather they researched. Once all our research was done, Mrs. Brockman and Ms. Dickie's (sub for Mrs. Puryear) class came to help Mrs. Findley's class create a cool weather book on book creator. The 1st graders helped the kindergarteners add their text, add a photo of their weather, and resize to fit the template that Mrs. Findley created for her students. Finally, Mrs. Brockman, Mrs. Findley and Ms. Dickie helped the kids record their voice reading what they wrote on their page in the class book.

Mrs. Findley emailed a link to her parents and posted a QR code at the end of K hall for family and friends to see the result of their class research. A link was also shared with Ms. Dickie to let her students see the finished product.

The 1st graders were such a huge help, and the kindergarten students did such an amazing job typing in their sentences and adding their photograph of choice.

CahabaFit Enrich Highlights CahabaFit Enrich Highlights

CahabaFit Enrich at Cahaba

CahabaFit has been an exciting enrichment class for Cahaba 4th and 5th grade students. Teachers, Grace Songer and Kylie Collins, have guided students in exploring the foundations of fitness, nutrition, and healthy living. Students have learned the importance of dynamic and static stretching and when to use each to prepare their bodies for movement or aid in recovery. They have discovered how to plan and track their workouts, setting personal fitness goals and monitoring their progress along the way. Additionally, students have gained valuable knowledge about nutrition by learning how to create balanced meal plans that fuel their bodies and support overall wellness. Through hands-on activities, movement-based learning, and various guest speakers, CahabaFit has empowered students to take ownership of their health and build lifelong habits that promote physical and mental well-being.

Magnolia Celebrates National Schwa Day Magnolia Celebrates National Schwa Day

Magnolia Celebrates National Schwa Day

National Schwa Day, April 7th, was a success for Magnolia students. First, Dr. Phyllis Faust, principal, presented interesting information about the schwa over the morning announcements. Next, Mrs. Angie Seeley, Literacy Coach, visited several classes and led the students in activities to commemorate this unique day. Students practiced finding the schwa in multi-syllabic words, read a book about this most common sound in the English language, and completed a sorting challenge. Adding to the excitement of the day, Tiffany Reed, first grade teacher, led the school in a collaborative schwa-finding activity where students added “schwa-words” to a chart titled "We Can Find the Schwa." Students added their words to the appropriate column, indicating which vowel represented the schwa in each of the words.
