Honor the Past, Prepare for the Future, Participate Now
Mr. Mauck's Musings
Hopefully, all of our families will get to enjoy time together tonight and this weekend. Congratulations to Graham Day and Mrs. Wahl or Student and Staff of the Week winners. We had Wildcats all over the place this week. The JHS Choir took a trip to Carnegie Hall to perform, the Performing Arts Club was supporting the JMS production of "Nemo" while they performed "The Outsiders." JHS sent two teams to Oakland City for a STEM challenge and earned a pair of second place finishes. Our future engineers headed to Crane to participate in their engineering challenge. Many of our student got real life experiences to prepare them for their careers.
The Cats have a full weekend of athletic events. Baseball plays tonight and Tennis will host a invite all weekend. The Boy's Golf team heads to the Hatchet Invite on Saturday and the softball team is on the road at Reitz and Davies County. We hope the spring showers stay away and we can get all the events in this weekend.
If we are rained out on Saturday come on in to the Band Room and check out their mattress fundraiser. It is a great way to improve your sleep for the long summer days. The German Club is looking for golf scramble teams for next weekend. The Educators Rising Club is raising money for their trip to nationals with a night at Culvers on May 12th from 5-8. Mr. Nowotarski is presenting at the Library for Earth Day. Check out his flier in the Community events section. Jasper Engines and Transmissions is sponsoring a $500 give-away for one lucky JHS senior. Details are included below. AP testing will begin in two weeks. I have included the schedule of tests and some reminders from Mr. Uebelhor.
Student Council hosted the Spring Pep Session today. We had another great class competition and were able to honor our students involved in sports and activities in the spring. We had come cheer competitions, a roller coaster contest, name that tune, a look-a-like presentation, homerun derby, a saran unwrapping event, name the mascot, and the ever popular air mattress relay. Mrs. Ferguson and the spirit committee did a nice job.
Our community has asked that I share a few events they have requested we share. The Chalk Walk will be going on around the square. We have CPR training for those interested and there is a summer STEM activity. All the activities have fliers with more information.
On this Easter Weekend please take stock of the good things in life, the opportunities that lay in front of us, the many blessings we share and all that was sacrificed so that we may live in this moment.
Have a great weekend and Go Cats!
