Girls Volleyball played Cedar Creek on Tuesday. The girls stayed focused and won in two games (25-21, 25-22). Sarah Hickey led the team with 11 service points and 5 aces. Georgia Gaskill had 5 kills to help fuel the team offensive efforts. On Wednesday the seniors were recognized and celebrated for their hard work during our senior night! The team has 10 seniors this year. Jacyln Stafford handles the stats for the team and does a fantastic job! Outside hitters Sarah Hickey, Arianna Jones, and Anna Valentino, Middle Hitter / Blockers Natalie Naasan, Ava Ivie, and Georgia Gaskill, Opposite Hitter Skylar Weinstein, Setter McKenna Weber, and Defensive Specialist Julia Sweeny have all been important in our season, and will be missed next year! The seniors got to cap off their night with a 2-0 set win over Hammonton (28-26, 25-23).

Next week wraps up our regular season CAL games, with Monday's game away vs Absegami and our final home game Tuesday vs. Mainland. The CAL tournament begins Wednesday. Let's go Eagles!

Girls tennis had an up and down week. On Friday 10/7, the tennis girls played the first round of the Group 4 team tournament. In an exciting 4-1 win, singles players Jamie Theophall, Lauren Theophall, and Lilly Munoz secured the team win. First doubles Demi Lu/Belina Zhang also won their match.

Second round of the playoffs was a tough 3-2 loss against Cherokee. First singles Jamie Theophall lost a tough match against one of the top players in the state. Second singles Lauren Theophall barely broke a sweat in her 6-1, 6-0 win. Second doubles Lily Ferriola/Elisa Liberi survived a second set scare to win 6-1, 7-5.

On Wednesday, the team got back to its winning ways with a convincing 5-0 victory over Atlantic City. Singles players Jamie Theophall, Lauren Theophall, and Lilly Munoz all scored straight set wins. Doubles Demi Lu/Belina Zhang won with a pair of 6-1 sets and Lily Ferriola/Elisa Liberi cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 win.

Season record is 13-3. Next match is at Hammonton on Friday.

Varsity field hockey is now 9-3-2. We are in the midst of a 7 game streak without a loss.

We beat Millville 10/6 by a score of 3-0 Jenna Gray had 2 goals and Kara Wilson had 1 goal. Ella Seymour, Brianne Macchia, and Anna Smith all had an assist.

10/8 we tied a quality Ocean City team on Saturday 2-2. Jenna Gray and Kara Wilson each had a goal Julia Zappile and Anna Smith each had an assist.

Tuesday 10/11 we travelled to Timber Creek and won 8-0. Jenna Gray had 4 goals and an assist. Kara Wilson had a goal and 2 assists. Mack Matthews, Madison Fortis, and Makena Kalita each had a goal. Julia Zappile, and Alison Umphlett each has an assist.

Wednesday 10/12 we tied a quality Hammonton team 2-2, both goals were by Brianne Macchia and both Assists were by Jenna Gray. We are awaiting to see our place in the CAL tournament!!!

10/14/22

EHTHS took to the road on Thursday traveling to Hammonton to play its final Division game. This game would prove to have huge implications, the Division Champion, Power Points and a possible first round bye in the CAL tournament were all up for grabs. The Eagles proved mighty as Nathan Biersbach fired a missile from 23 yards out early in the First Half. The Eagles had several opportunities, but held to only one goal in regulation. EHTHS goalie, Brett Barnes was stellar in his performance, he made 10 miraculous saves throughout the game, including a saved PK early in the second half. Barnes kept EHTHS in the game with his play, however, Hammonton was relentless and with only 6 minutes left in the second half, they found the equalizer 1-1. The Eagles would have to earn the victory the hard way, in a Golden Goal Over TIme. With only 16 seconds left in the second OT, Hammonton fouled EHTHS inside the 18 yard box, resulting in a red card ejection for Hammonton and a Penalty Shot for EHTHS. Nathan Biersbach stepped to the line, glanced at the remaining 16 seconds on the board and buried his PK into the right panel. The Eagles showed grit and determination in the victory. The Eagles also repeated as American Division Champions, should be a #1 seed in the CAL tournament and earned a lot of power points. The Eagles host Washington Twp Saturday afternoon at 1pm in the first round of the South Jersey Soccer Coaches Association tournament.

The Eagles lost to Oakcrest High School 23-14. Leon Ellis scored a rushing and receiving touchdown. Joey Martin added two successful extra point tries.

Alder Girls and Boys' Cross Country both beat Margate on Friday!

Their next meet is at Somers Point on Tuesday.

Fernwood did not have any meets this week. Their next meet is Monday at home against Upper Township.

ALDER tied Somers Point 0-0 on Wednesday. Their next game is Friday at Margate Tighe School.

FERNWOOD beat Belhaven 2-0 on Tuesday. Scoring for the team were Keira Gibbs and Anna Kavlin. Their next game is Thursday at Northfield.

Alder beat Assumption 5-0. Scoring goals were Julia Sroka (2), Abby DeCosta (1), Gianna Galego (1), and Nourai Omar (1). Providing excellent defense in goal were Lily Bertino and Caitlyn Hager. Their next game is Tuesday at Pilgrim.

Fernwood beat Davies MS 8-0 on Wednesday. Goals were scored by: Jackie Brownlee (4), Stella Barilotti (3), and Evelyn Brown (1). JV also won 5-0. Goals were scored by Elaina Kraybill (1), Kaycee Biel (1), Brooklyn Modugno (1). Their next game is Thursday against Galloway.

Alder Boys' Soccer went 2-0 this week! On Wednesday, they beat Somers Point 9-1. Jonathan Espichan had 3 goals, Ace Reider had 2, and Liam Fox, Jayden Grajales, Tyler Wood, and John Le each added one goal a piece. JV also won 2-0. Scoring were Zackary Simon, Jaxson Ballinger, and Vinny Biscieglia.

On Friday, they beat Ventnor 5-1. Jonathan Espichan again had a hat trick! Liam Fox had another 2 goals and John Le added one. Ethan Carlin had the win in the net.

Fernwood Boys' Soccer improved their record to 4 wins, 1 tie and no loses by beating Linwood 5-0 on Tuesday. Scoring for the Eagles was Josh Reyes with 2 goals. Noah Heritage, Grady Mathis and Tyler Chubb all chipped in one goal a piece. Goalkeeper Nic Cruse recorded his 4th shut out of the season and the defensive played lights out soccer.

MIDDLE SCHOOL WINTER SPORTS REGISTRATION:

Middle School Winter 1 sport registration will open on October 1, and will begin on Dec. 12.

Winter 1 sports include Boys' and Girls' Basketball, Wrestling, and Unified Bowling.

Winter 2 sports includes Co-ed Volleyball and Unified Basketball. Registration will open Dec. 1 and practices will begin February 21.
