News From the Principal
Dear AES Patriot Families,
I know my sections are getting longer and longer, so please use the left side to find sections that might be of interest to you.
Report Cards
This next section is for parents of students in Grades 1-4 only. Grades are in the student portal.
How to Access Student Information For Report Cards:
Electronic Report Cards for Grades 1-4 students will be posted in the Aspen portal today, March 14th. You must have a family portal account to access student information, including report cards. If you do not currently have an account, the necessary steps to create an account are below. If you have other questions, please refer to the NMRSD page (https://www.nmrsd.org/familyportal) or email (aspen@nmrsd.org) with any additional questions.
Exciting News!
Want to know a secret? Be sure to tune into American Idol this season! Why? Because former AES student, Kamryn R., is a contestant! We are all cheering her on and hoping she makes it far in the competition. Who knows—if she advances, maybe we’ll even get a hometown visit! Let’s support her journey and put Ashby on the map!
Thank you to all those who made our annual Scholastic Bookfair a success!
Subs Needed
Once again AES is looking for subs. Mrs. C puts in the effort to hire subs, then they sub at the other schools and not AES. If you are interested please apply on School Spring.
4th Grade Digital Yearbook:
Mrs. Webb and I are starting work on our annual 4th Grade Digital Yearbook, a beloved AES tradition since 2005. We kindly request that you send in a baby photo of your child (before their first birthday) to include in this special keepsake. You can either email the photo or send in a physical copy, which we will scan and return promptly. Thank you for helping make this tradition special!
Thank you to our PTC for a fabulous luncheon this past Wednesday! Also if you were unable to make it in for parent/caregiver conference, please reach out to your child's teacher.

News From Guidance
Hello AES Families,
I do not want to jinx it but it is starting to feel like spring! Recess was moved from the blacktop to the playground this week which made students (and Mrs. Reich) so happy!
First grade had their last Second Step lesson on Tuesday. We celebrated by listening to all of the songs we have learned using the Second Step program; ask your first grader to sing a bit of the Problem Solving Song. We will be starting the MARC Bullying Prevention program next week.
All other grades are finishing up the Second Step program with learning/reviewing the problem solving steps. Ask your student what the steps are and when they should use them.
Say the problem (without blame)
Think of solutions (safe and respectful solutions)
Explore consequences (both positive and negative consequences)
Pick the best solution
Although we have been able to go outside for recess this week, last week was windy and cold. Below is a photo of an awesome tower two 3rd graders built during indoor recess.
Have a great weekend!
