Girls Soccer Wins on Penalties in Area Opener
The Hewitt-Trussville Girls Soccer team battled to a 2-1 win at Hoover on Friday night in the 7A Area 6 opener. The match was tied 1-1 after overtime so the result was decided by penalty kicks. The Huskies beat the Bucs 4-2 in kicks to secure the win. HT is now 7-2-1 overall on the season and 1-0 in 7A Area 6.
Hoover scored first in the match to take an early 1-0 lead. Later in the first half, Jocelyn Davis scored on a penalty kick to tie the game. In PK's Hoover led 1-0 after the first round. Lauren Melton then scored and it was tied 1-1 after two rounds. Janie Steele scored and Hoover missed, so the Huskies led 2-1 after three rounds. Brecken Phillips scored and the Huskies led 3-2 after four rounds. Peerson Waller then scored the winning goal.
The Huskies will have a pair of Area matches this week at Vestavia and Oak Mountain.

Outdoor Track & Field: Boys 1st; Girls 3rd at Homewood Invite
The Hewitt-Trussville Outdoor Track & Field team competed in the Homewood Invitational on Friday. The HT Boys finished 1st out of 20 teams and the HT Girls finished 3rd out of 22 teams.

Boys Golf Wins at Limestone
HT Boys Golf Schedule/Results:
Girls Golf 2nd at Limestone
The Hewitt-Trussville Girls Golf team finished 2nd out of 11 teams at the Hewitt-Trussville Invitational last week. Kiersten Riggins led the Huskies in scoring with a 75. Merritt Daniel fired a 37 on the back nine en route to a round of 78. Morgan Hopper also shot a round of 78 for the Huskies.

Baseball Earns Win #16
Hewitt-Trussville Baseball improved to 16-0 on the season with a 8-0 win over Springville Thursday. Hudson Mitchell pitched a complete game and struck out six batters. Jonah Jackson had two hits and two RBI's. Drew Ollis also drove in a pair of runs.
The Huskies will host Mountain Brook on Tuesday.

Hewitt-Trussville High School coaches Taylor Burt and Jeff Mauldin were presented with the Heart of the Eagle Award during the Scouting America Greater Alabama Council’s Eastern Area Leadership Breakfast at the Trussville Civic Center Tuesday morning.
Local leaders and community members gathered to recognize the honorees and support the scouts, raising over $17,000 for the organization.
Burt has spent the last eight seasons building the Lady Huskies into one of the top programs in Alabama, winning four state titles, and seeing 30 of her former student athletes go on to play at the collegiate level.
Mauldin became the youngest coach in Alabama high school history to reach 700 wins last season, including the 2016 state championship game with the Huskies, and was inducted into the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
Softball Wins Area Opener
The Hewitt-Trussville Softball team scored six runs in the 5th inning on Tuesday night and defeated Oak Mountain 8-2 in the 7A Area 6 opener. Peyton Hull singled home Ava Hyde and Evie Andrews to tie the game. Makaila Hope doubled to score Hull to give the Huskies the lead. Presley Hull then singled to score Hope and put HT up 4-2. Ryleigh Wood later doubled to score two more runs. Corey Goguts tripled in the 6th inning to extend the lead.
Kinley Poe threw a complete game and did not allow a hit. Poe struck out eight batters and walked just one. The Huskies collected 13 hits on the night.
HT will be back in action on Tuesday at Hoover.

Boys Soccer Scores Late to Beat Thompson
Hewitt-Trussville Boys Soccer beat Thompson 2-1 last week to earn their 8th win of the season. Brennan Greer scored the first goal on a free kick. Later, Jason Meriweather assisted Jonathon Emmerich for the second goal.
This week the Huskies will have road matches at Crossville and Oak Mountain.

Tennis Defeats Gadsden City
The HT Boys defeated Gadsden City 9-0 and the HT Girls beat the Titans 8-1 on Monday. Carter Jordan, Kyle Jones, Luke Stutsman, Levi Buckner, Paul Bethune, and Clark Tidmore all won in singles. Carter Jordan/Kyle Jones, Brody Bingham/Luke Stutsman, and Kayden Kago/Reid Miller all won in doubles play.
For the Girls, Riley Edwards, AC Monski, Kate Armstrong, Riley Austin, Eden Christian, and Lyla Hatley all won in singles. Riley Edwards/AC Monski and Bailey Mates/Riley Austin won in doubles.

Rising Freshman Boys Basketball Tryouts
Tryouts for Rising Freshman (Freshman Basketball Team) will take place April 7th-9th from 4:00-5:30 in the Practice Gym at Hewitt-Trussville High School. Attached is a flyer with a QR code for signups. All participants must sign up and have an updated account in Dragonfly.
HTMS Softball Wins Three More
The HTMS Softball team improved to 13-2 last week with three wins. The Huskies defeated Mountain Brook 16-1, Pell City 7-1, and Marbury 13-1. Frances Fraser, Maggie Bell, and Sophia Shubert were the winning pitchers.
HT will be back in action against Homewood Wednesday.
Middle School Baseball Picks up a Pair of Sweeps
The HTMS Baseball team improved to 15-2 overall on the year with sweeps over Thompson and Springville. The Huskies defeated Thompson 4-3 and 9-3 and defeated Springville 9-0 and 7-0.
The Huskies will travel to Auburn this weekend.
MS Golf Enjoys Successful Round
The HTMS Boys Golf team finished 6th in a tournament on March 10. Elias Campbell tied for 10th overall and Aaron Wilkinson tied for 11th overall.
MS Tennis Sweeps Bragg
The HTMS Tennis teams swept Bragg last Tuesday. The HT Boys won 7-2 and the HT Girls won 9-0.
Asa Blakely, Noah Deibert, Macallister Lyden, Amay Patel, Lucas Wilson and Bennett Wright all won singles matches. Will Logan/Amay Patel and Macallister Lyden/Everett Beyer won in doubles play.
For the Girls, Eloise Catrett, Olivia Chen, Addysen Coons, Peyton Duckett, London Ford, and Harper James all won singles matches. Emma Hayden/Ryann Lee and Anna Kate Wright/Emma Lepley won in doubles play.
