The Litchfield Community Unit School District #12 Board of Education met in a Special Meeting on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, in the Kilton Fine Arts Center at the Unit Office for its monthly board meeting.
These are not the official meeting minutes and do not include every detail from the meeting; instead, they are a summary to assist the Purple Panther community. Once the board approves them, the official minutes can be found on the LCUSD #12 Board of Education Minutes page on the website.
PERSONNEL
Hires:
Gregory McKay as Activities Custodian effective immediately.
Lonnie Law as the Assistant Girls Soccer Coach beginning the 2024-2025 school year.
Chad Carty as the Litchfield Middle School Principal beginning the 2025-2026 school year
Paula Dal Canton as the Litchfield Elementary School Principal beginning the 2025-2026 school year.
Volunteers:
Anna Buske as a Volunteer Aide to the Make It Program effective immediately.
Resignations:
Caeley Stutz, Special Education Teacher at the Middle School, effective at the conclusion of the 2024-2025 school year.
Jenny Loveless, Instructional Tutor, effective February 7, 2025.
Retirements:
Randy Boerckel, Custodian effective March 7, 2025.
Introducing Ms. Paula Dal Canton as Principal of LES
This evening the Litchfield Board of Education approved two new principals who will be joining our district for the 2025-2026 school year.
One of these outstanding leaders is Ms. Paula Dal Canton, who has been named the new principal of Litchfield Elementary School. Ms. Dal Canton brings a wealth of experience, a deep passion for education, and a strong commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive learning environment for all students.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Eastern Illinois University, a Master of Arts in Human Development Counseling from the University of Illinois Springfield, and a School Administration Certificate from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
With 28 years of dedicated service in the Litchfield School District, Ms. Dal Canton has made a lasting impact as both a teacher and a school counselor at Litchfield Middle School. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated exceptional leadership and an unwavering commitment to student success.
Ms. Dal Canton shared that she is honored to step into this role and is excited to join the dedicated and talented team of educators at LES. She looks forward to building strong relationships with students, families, staff, and the entire Litchfield community while continuing to build upon the school's foundation of excellence. Most importantly, she is eager to embrace and celebrate Panther Pride in her new leadership role!
Please join me in congratulating and welcoming Ms. Dal Canton as the new principal of LES! We are confident that, under her leadership, Litchfield Elementary will continue to thrive, and we look forward to a bright future ahead.
Introducing Mr. Chad Carty as Principal of LMS
We are thrilled to announce that the Board of Education has approved Chad Carty as the new Principal of Litchfield Middle School! Mr. Carty brings extensive experience, steadfast dedication, and a passion for student success, and we are excited to welcome him to the Purple Panther family.
Mr. Carty has built a career focused on fostering student achievement, creating supportive learning environments, and implementing innovative leadership strategies. With a strong educational background, including roles as an Assistant Principal at Indian Creek High School and Freeport Middle School, he has developed a reputation for building positive relationships with students, staff, and families. His leadership style is centered on collaboration, innovation, and student success, and we are confident he will be an outstanding addition to LMS.
Throughout his career, Mr. Carty has been instrumental in:
✅ Establishing student support teams to address behavior, attendance, and mental health challenges.
✅ Implementing Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) to enhance student outcomes through data-driven decision-making.
✅ Developing progressive discipline systems that balance accountability with student growth.
✅ Leading initiatives to strengthen school climate, culture, and community engagement.
A native of Carlinville, Illinois, Mr. Carty and his family are eager to return closer to home. He shared, “I have heard such good things about Litchfield schools from both staff and community members. My family and I are excited to move closer to home, but more than anything we are excited to be part of the Purple Panther community.”
