Winter Wishes from Bennett-Hemenway
Dear Families,
As the holiday season approaches, we want to pause and celebrate the hard work our students have shared this semester.
We Wish You:
- Peaceful moments together
- Warm family memories
- Joyful celebrations
- Restful days of connection
May your winter break be filled with love, laughter, and time with those who matter most. We look forward to welcoming our students back in January, refreshed and ready to continue their learning adventure.
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
Warmly,
Karen Ghilani, Danny Flannery, Hannah Cross and our entire Ben Hem Team
Things to Know:
BUILDING A STRONG FOUNDATION FOR LEARNING: The Power of Attendance
We know you want the best for your child, and consistent school attendance is a powerful way to support their academic journey. When your child arrives on time and attends school regularly, they:
- Catch every important lesson
- Stay connected with classmates
- Develop crucial life skills like responsibility and commitment
Why Every Day Matters
Even a few missed days can create significant learning gaps. Think of school like building a house – each day is a critical brick in your child's educational foundation.
Navigating Life's Challenges
We understand that life is unpredictable. While we appreciate your best efforts, here are some helpful guidelines:
- Prioritize school attendance whenever possible
- Avoid scheduling discretionary travel during the school year
- Plan family trips around school breaks
When Absences Are Unavoidable
If illness or unexpected circumstances arise:
- Notify the school in PickUp Patrol
- Communicate with teachers
- Help your child catch up on missed work
A Partnership in Education
Please note: Requesting advance assignments for planned absences isn't feasible, as classroom learning is dynamic and interactive.
We're partners in your child's success. By working together, we can help them reach their full potential and develop lifelong learning habits.
Thank you for your support and commitment to education.
WINTER BOOK FAIR HOSTED BY OUR PTO:
Our Winter Book Fair is taking place from Thursday, December 12th through Wednesday, December 18th. Please consider volunteering to help this book fair run smoothly throughout the week. Here is a link to the volunteer sign up. Families are encouraged to set up an e-wallet. See more information here.
(What is an e-wallet ? No more bills stuffed in backpacks! At the Scholastic Book Fair, kids shop without cash thanks to eWallet, a digital payment account for purchases at the Fair. Family and friends contribute funds. Then kids choose their own books. It’s convenient, simple, and secure. It starts on your school’s Book Fair homepage. A child’s family follows a link to create a free eWallet account. There are three ways to fund an account: Add money with a credit card, use funds from a previous eWallet, or invite friends and extended fam to contribute. Because funds are available immediately, a child can shop the Fair with eWallet right away. Families can use a leftover balance to fund an eWallet for a future Fair.)
