Dear Mill Creek Families,
We hope everyone had a relaxing Spring Break. It was wonderful to see all our students back this morning. Everyone is excited for a productive spring at the Creek!
Our students in third-fifth grades will be taking the MAP test during the window of April 14 - May 9. Your teacher will provide you with the specific dates and times your child will be testing. Please make sure students have enough rest, as well as a good breakfast, so they are able to focus and do their best. It is important to have students at school on the days they test, so they are not pulled from class later to make the tests up. In January, Saint Louis University recognized 5 CPS schools for growth on the MAP test during the 2023-24 school year. Mill Creek was one of those schools, as we secured 17th place in statewide ELA growth for all students and 7th place in statewide Mathematics growth for all students. We hope to make excellent growth again this year. Your support and encouragement of your students will help us do so!
Students will also be taking their final iReady diagnostic in April and May. We look forward to seeing additional growth from the winter diagnostic. Please cheer your students on as they enter this busy period at school.
We would like to remind everyone about parent drop off procedures in the morning. If you are dropping off, please use the front circle drive. If you would like to park and walk your child up to the building, you may find a spot in the back parking lot. Please do not pull in the bus lane when coming into the back parking lot. Students are walking from their buses and families are using the crosswalk in the bus lane during this time. Thank you for your help with this!
The Mill Creek PTA will meet on Tuesday, April 9 at 6 pm. This is an important meeting, as we will be voting on our new board members. We will continue to brainstorm plans to spend our Fun Fest earnings and have updates regarding the 5th Grade Party. Teacher Appreciation Week will also be discussed. Can’t join in person? There is still time to sign up for summer school this year. The dates are June 2-June 27. To access the 2025 SUNsation K-8 enrollment, log into the CPS Families Portal (https://launchpad.classlink.com/cpsfamilies) with your Guardian ID and password.
This is a great way to keep your child learning and growing over the summer months. You must sign up by Friday, April 25 to be guaranteed bus transportation and a spot at Mill Creek.
We wanted to provide you with an attendance update. As you know, our school-wide goal this year is to be above 90% attendance, with our actual goal set at 94%. Our current percentage sits at 91.7%. Good school attendance is a priority that is established in elementary school and is vital for student achievement. We appreciate your support in reaching this goal.
