COMMUNITY UPDATE
Hello North Rockland Families,
As we move into the Spring Recess, please remember our North Rockland schools are closed for instruction from Monday, April 14 through Monday, April 21. Regular classes will resume on Tuesday, April 22.
While schools are closed for students, North Rockland buildings will operate from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. from April 14 through April 17. Regular operating hours will resume on Tuesday, April 22.
This week, we celebrated our Assistant Principals across the district, with some schools finding unique ways to show their appreciation. At Stony Point Elementary, students honored AP Laura Sweeney by donning Laura Sweeney look-alike costumes - a fun and heartfelt tribute to her impact on students. At Haverstraw Elementary, students and staff gathered for a surprise assembly in the auditorium to celebrate AP Tiffany Bergen. A big thank you to all Assistant Principals for their hard work, dedication and commitment to supporting our students and schools!
The celebrations continued at Haverstraw Elementary this week as the school concluded its Annual Amazing Shake competition. Noah Aguero claimed first place, with Marlen Nieves finishing second and Keyli Sumba Dominguez taking third. This competition emphasizes professional etiquette, manners and conduct, aiming to prepare students for professional environments. Students learn skills like proper handshakes and how to "work the room.” Kudos to all the students who took part in the three-round challenge, which provided a great opportunity to develop and demonstrate their communication skills in real-world situations.
As of today, the District has only used one (1) of the four (4) emergency days that were built into the 2024-2025 school calendar. Consequently, all schools will now be closed on Thursday, May 22, Friday, May 23 and Tuesday, May 27 for "giveback" days.
Spring Recess is a perfect opportunity to rest, recharge and enjoy quality time with family and friends. Wishing our community a happy Easter and a joyous Passover.

Along with neighboring school districts in Rockland County, NRCSD is sharing information to parents and caregivers about the safe storage of firearms. Safe gun storage is critical to preventing suicide, unintentional shootings and other tragedies.
