Dear Parents/Guardians,
Over the course of the next two weeks, students in grades 1-8 will be taking the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessment. The MAP assessment consists of both Reading and Math portions, and is one of the methods teachers and administrators use to collect data on student academic growth. The collected data can then be used to help cater instruction and support for the specific needs of each student. This school year, students will be taking the MAP assessment two times; once during the Fall trimester, and once during the Spring trimester.
The MAP assessment is unique in that it is adaptive and will adjust according to student responses. This means the questions become more difficult as your child answers correctly, or become less difficult if your child answers a question incorrectly. Therefore, your child takes an assessment targeted specifically to their learning level. Additionally, the MAP assessment is aligned with the Common Core State Standards, which is reflected in our English/Language Arts and Math curricula.
