Notes From the Superintendent
Greetings,
As we step into the final full month of the school year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey we've shared so far and look ahead to the exciting conclusion of the 2024–2025 school year.
May is a time of both celebration and preparation. Our students are showcasing what they’ve learned through performances, exhibitions, and year-end assessments. From spring concerts and athletic competitions to learning fairs, and art shows, it’s inspiring to witness their hard work and growth come to life.
I want to express deep gratitude to our dedicated educators and support staff. Their commitment and passion have guided our students each step of the way, and their efforts deserve our highest appreciation—especially as Teacher Appreciation Week reminds us of the impact educators make every day.
For our seniors, graduation is just around the corner on June 6, 2025. This milestone is a momentous occasion not just for students and their families, but for the entire community. We look forward to celebrating their achievements and futures when we come together in June.
Looking ahead, please keep an eye out for school-based communication regarding important end-of-year events. At the district level, please note that the District Budget Meeting is set for May 8, 2025 and the District Referendum Vote is scheduled for June 10, 2025. Voting will be held at the Berwick Town Hall, Lebanon Elementary School, and North Berwick Elementary School.
Important Note About the 2025–2026 School Calendar:
Please note that beginning next school year, all students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12 will have Early Release Wednesday. This will replace the current Late Start/Early Release schedule. Elementary students will be dismissed at a time similar to this year and previous years. Students in grades seven through twelve will be dismissed before the elementary students. Final dismissal times will be shared once bus routes are finalized.
The approved 2025–2026 school calendar is included with this newsletter for your reference.
As always, thank you for your continued partnership and support. Let’s finish this year strong, together.
Warm regards,
Audra Beauvais

Exciting news from the ELKS salmon tank — the school's alevin have officially hatched! Students are observing the newly emerged salmon with curiosity and care as we continue our journey through the Fish Friends program.
In addition to daily salmon checks, students are now actively involved in water quality testing, weekly water changes, and tracking the alevin's development. These hands-on tasks not only support the health of our salmon but also give students real-world experience applying science concepts in a meaningful way.

Over the past few months, student teams have built small, submersible ROVs (remotely operated vehicles) with help from Mr. Peet, Mrs. Leon, and Mr. Herrick from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.
Throughout this process, students learned about applying circuitry, buoyancy principles, waterproofing, and propulsion techniques. During the competition, the teams operated their ROVs in the UNH pool in challenges which included navigating through underwater obstacle courses and performing mock underwater missions of collecting and moving objects.
Fourth graders from Mrs. Reid's class at NBES designed and built a beautiful new wooden sign for their lobby. As part of their final year, they wanted to leave a lasting, meaningful contribution to the school!
