Seniors, have you checked out the Ford Family Foundation Scholarship? Due date: March 1

WHAT IS THE SCHOLARSHIP?

• Supports students who have significant financial barriers to college
• Award amount is calculated on college cost of attendance (tuition, fees, room and board, personal costs, etc.), minus other grants and scholarships
• In addition to a generous financial award, Scholars receive academic guidance, leadership development, personal and professional support, and access to the Ford Family alumni network
• Renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study

The Ford Family Foundation's goal is to assist students who otherwise would find it impossible, or at least very difficult, to obtain a college degree.

Seniors, you will be asked, at some point, to provide an official transcript to the colleges you're applying to. You will need to follow one of these tip sheets to have it sent, via parchment, within your Schoolinks account.

Students log in using their school gmail account and their SBHS student ID# for their password.

Get FREE help paying for tuition at an Oregon Community College!
Seniors, go to: app.oregonstudentaid.gov to create your user name and password.

Save this log in information because you will use it again for the OSAC scholarship.

· The deadline for the Oregon Promise is June 1.

· The deadline for the OSAC scholarship is March 1.

When completing the Oregon Promise, you will be asked to agree to have your GPA verified by SBHS from your transcript. Say YES so we can confirm your eligibility.

• You must have a cumulative 2.50 GPA by the end of the school year.
• You are also required to do the FAFSA or ORSAA to be eligible for FREE Oregon Promise funds to be used at a community college in Oregon.

Whether it is called a brag sheet, activities chart or resume, all students should be keeping a list of the things in which they are involved over the course of their high school years. This is "YOU on paper."

All scholarships, many college applications and future employment will want to know how you have spent your time.

All these options will help students prepare for future opportunities.

If you are considering attending PCC next year, NOW is the time to apply for their scholarship opportunities. Below are two great options, and there are more on the PCC Scholarship page.

PCC Foundation Scholarship: Available Nov. 1-Feb. 1. Students must apply to PCC, have a student ID# and access to the MyPCC portal to submit their Foundation scholarship. Don't procrastinate and miss this opportunity

PCC Future Connect Scholarship: Available Nov. 1-March 1.

The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation awards need-based scholarships to the children of Marines attending accredited colleges, community colleges, and career technical education programs. It’s the nation’s oldest and largest provider of need-based scholarships to military families, and their mission is to provide scholarship support to every eligible child of a Marine. The scholarship application for the 2022-23 academic year opens on January 1, 2022, and will close on March 1, 2022. For more information on eligibility or to apply, visit mcsf.org/apply. I love my job! Helping students to learn about the steps to prepare for careers is energizing. Whether it is looking into a career in the medical field and college is the path to get there, or looking into a career in construction and how to find the best apprenticeship is rewarding for both the student and me. I can connect a student with a mentor to talk to. We meet virtually so they can ask questions, learn about their career path, and connect to the community members that may lead to job shadowing or internships. Students simply need to come into the College & Career Center to speak to me (LindaLee Frazier) so we can get started on career exploration.

We help students (and their parents) with the process of preparing for college or career training.
