EDUCATOR OF THE WEEK
This week's Educator of the Week is Ms. Joanie Pozerski. Mrs. Pozerski is the Executive Secretary to the Superintendent. She has played an integral role in the success of our district since she joined our team in 2020. Having worked side by side with Mrs. Pozerksi over the past four years, I can say, without hesitation, that our district is stronger because of her work.
Mrs. Pozerski is more than a Secretary for the Superintendent and School Committee. She has a tremendous work ethic and a positive demeanor that is on display everyday at the Ventress Building. Beyond her day work, she plays an active role on the Marshfield Education Foundation and is on the Board of Grad Nite Live. In that past, she has also worked tirelessly for the Martinson PTO.
Where Mrs. Pozerski has really shined for the District is in her role as the co-creator (along with Mrs. Marie Kurmin) of the We Are Marshfield Project (WAMP). This annual community service project for MHS Seniors is in its 11th year. The students and volunteers love taking part and the community is the recipient of over 1,000 hours of community service on this special day.
Congratulations to Mrs. Pozerksi for being our Educator of the Week. And as the Superintendent who benefits from her amazing work ethic, I want to thank her for all that she does for my office and for the District. She is the best!! #WeRMarshfield
WE ARE MARSHFIELD PROJECT (WAMP)
The annual We Are Marshfield Project (WAMP) took place today and it was, once again, a huge success. Over 200 MHS seniors joined with close to 60 volunteers to work on projects throughout Marshfield. The We Are Marshfield Project is a day of community service for the senior class to give back to the community that raised them. Homes, schools and community buildings/sites & beaches were tended to over the course of the school day.
In total, the MHS Seniors and their Volunteer chaperones accounted for over 1,200 hours in volunteer service to the Town of Marshfield! That is simply amazing and we cannot thank them enough. #WeRmarshfield is something you see over and over around the MPSD and a day like today highlights that we are one community, unified in our efforts to make it better.
A big thank you to Joanie Pozerski and Marie Kurmin for their continued leadership in this project. Thank you as well to our students and volunteers.
Below are a few pictures from this special day.

TIERED FOCUSED MONIITORING REVIEW
During the week of May 6th, 2024 the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s (DESE’s) Office of Language Acquisition (OLA) will conduct a Tiered Focused Monitoring Review of Marshfield Public Schools. The Office of Language Acquisition reviews each district’s and charter school’s ELE program every six years to monitor compliance with federal and state English learner education laws and regulations. Areas of review will include English learners’ student assessments, identification of English learners; what programs English learners are placed in, parent and community involvement, curriculum and instruction, student support services, licensure requirements for faculty, staff and administration, program plans, and evaluation and recordkeeping.
In addition to the onsite visit, parent outreach is an important part of the review process. The district will send a survey to the parents of students whose records the review team examines with. The survey focuses on key areas of their child’s English learner education program. Survey results will be reviewed by OLA and they will contribute to the monitoring report.
Parents and other individuals may call David Valade, Office of Language Acquisition Review Chairperson, at (781) 338- 6711 to request a telephone interview. If an individual requires an accommodation, such as translation, to participate in an interview, DESE will make the necessary arrangements.
Within approximately 60 business days of the onsite visit, the review chairperson will provide the (district or charter school) with a report with information about areas in which the Marshfield Public Schools meets or exceeds regulatory requirements and areas in which the Marshfield Public Schools requires assistance to correct or improve practices. The report will be available to the public at https://www.doe.mass.edu/ele/cpr/.
