Words from our Principal
Bonita Vista Families,
We have started our testing season. The SBAC assessments are in full swing and we will be on block schedule for 3 more weeks as the students complete their assessments. We wish all of our student the best as they complete these very challenging exams.
Next Friday, April 26th is progress report day. Please expect your student to bring home a copy of his/her progress report next Friday. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the teachers and/or counselors.
We wish the best of luck to our spring sports teams! Boys' and Girls' Volleyball and Field Hockey are in the middle of their seasons. If you would like a chance to watch these awesome athletes compete, their schedule is on our BVM website. Go get em' Crusaders!
Below you will see some information on upcoming community events. The Parent Symposium will be held on April 27th from 7:30am-12pm at Montgomery High School. The keynote speaker is Dr. Pedro Noguera from UCLA. It should be a great event!
Also, the district is hosting community meetings to get input from all stakeholders about the Local Control Accountability Plan. Please join us on April 30th at Hilltop High School and let your voice be heard!
The Day of the Teacher will be on May 8th this year. I would like to take a moment to acknowledge the work our teachers do on a daily basis to ensure the safety, academic growth, and success of our students. You are appreciated!
Thank you
Teresa Kramer
School Highlights
Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium
The Smarter Balanced Assessment System utilizes computer based tests and performance tasks that allow students to show what they know and are able to do. It is based on the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English language arts/literacy (ELA) and mathematics and has three components designed to support teaching and learning throughout the year: the summative assessments, the interim assessments, and the Digital Library of formative assessment tools. Good luck to all our Crusaders taking the SBAC exam!

Digital Citizenship
Everyone wants to keep their kids safe and healthy. One area that may get overlooked is the safety of our kids on the internet. Sometimes we just assume kids know the right thing to do. The best way to keep our kids safe on the internet is to talk to them about it. There are a lot of great resources available to educate yourself on the subject and make it easier to speak to your kids about. A few are listed here to help you begin to help your child develop safe internet behaviors
