Lesson schedule adjustments

We will have to adjust lessons the next two weeks due to the No School Days coming up. Please continue to practice your lessons so we can keep moving in our lessons.

7th and 8th grade students should be practicing their solos every day. As I''ve said before about solos - if your parents can hum your solo - you've practiced it enough.

7th and 8th grade students should write a "thank you" card for Mrs. Kaldahl to thank her for accompanying you. She volunteers her time so this is a nice way to show your appreciation to her.

Practice Tip: Brass players need to keep their valves/slides oiled. If they are getting slow, you may need to use a paper towel or clean rag to remove the oil and start fresh. Clarinets should be checking their corks each week to keep them greased. Corks that become too dry will fall apart and need to be sent for repair.

Two children: Eric and Sarah, who married Nathan Puhl on

June 17, 2023 at Christ the King and they have a daughter, Ella, born on Feb. 5, 2025

Instrument: Trombone (like my dad and my son)

In addition to teaching private music lessons at IGLLS, I am a bus driver for the Spencer Schools, serve as chair of the Spencer ADA Council, direct the choir at Christ the King Lutheran and am a part-time janitor at Spencer Middle School. In my free time I enjoy reading, walking, biking, cooking and keeping up with my siblings Sue in Loveland, CO and David in Forest City.

My parents were both music educators. My brother and sister-in-law are band directors in Forest City, IA. My grandfathers were both ministers in the Presbyterian and Methodist churches.

Music has always been a part of my life and its fun to share this gift with our young people at IGLLS so they can add their praises to our Loving Lord in song.
