Welcome to the Dr. Norman W. Crisp School Community! We are very excited to welcome our youngest learners and their families to an important school year. Kindergarten is a special time for students to develop into confident and kind knowledge seekers and we are ready to help them pave the way for their educational career. Please read the following information carefully as it has important and unique information.

The first two weeks of Kindergarten are set up differently than grades one through five. The Nashua School District has developed a schedule that helps incoming kindergarten students adjust to school routines and expectations slowly. The following is what you can expect for your child’s first two weeks of Kindergarten:

Week 1 (August 27 - 29):

Tuesday 8/27 and Wednesday 8/28- Each family will sign up for a time (Please see Signup Genius Email) to come to the school for Kindergarten Screening. Please check in at the Kindergarten Playground (small fenced playground right next to Bowers Street in the back). Children will visit a Kindergarten classroom with a small group of other students. They will meet with teachers for academic screening as well as interact and play with classmates. Families will meet with the school’s home-school coordinator, Grace Tavares, to complete paperwork and learn about services and activities offered by the school. Plan on being at the school for 30 - 45 minutes.

Thursday 8/29 from 1:00pm - 2:00pm - All families will come to school for a Meet the Teacher event. This is when your child will find out which class they are in. Please meet on the small fenced playground next to Bowers Street Entrance. The teachers will come out to gather their classes. Families will be able to tour their new classroom and receive important information from the teacher.

Week 2 (September 3 - 6):

Tuesday 9/3 - Only students with last names ending in A - M attend school. (8:00am to 2:35pm)

Wednesday 9/4 - Only students with last names ending in N - Z attend school. (8:00am to 2:35pm)

Thursday 9/5 and Friday 9/6 - ALL students attend school!!! (8:00am to 2:35pm)

In lieu of a Supply List we are planning a Field Trip in October to supplement our Plants and Animals unit. The approximate cost will be 20.00 per student.
