GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Activity Center Construction Reroutes Traffic and Reduces Spaces
Due to the construction of our new Activity Center, our west and north parking lots the number of spaces will be reduced in our Northwest and North parking lots and the traffic flow will be changed. The projected date for completion is January 2027.
Please plan your time to allow for a safe arrival and departure from Eastview's parking lot.
North Parking Lot Changes Begin Monday, April 21st
Beginning Monday, April 21
- North Lot adjacent to 140th Street will be CLOSED on Monday, April 21 with limited faculty and Staff only access and parking.
- Construction Prep: This allows for staging the construction zone as well creating a new drop-off lane.
- New Drop-Off Lane: Tuesday, April 22 the North Lot will have 40 fewer parking spots and will have a new “drive and drop-off lane”.
- This new lane will be for thru traffic only (no stopping, idling, parking etc.) to gain access to the lane in front of the North Doors.
See map below.
Summer Impacts to Parking
Beginning Friday, June 6 (Day following last day of school)
- ALL Parking Lots on the West side of the building will be CLOSED during the summer. No lots will be accessible on the West side of the building during this time.
- All summer programs will use the North Entrance (Door #8) and the only available parking will be in the North Lot with overflow parking in the lots along Johnny Cake Ridge Road and the Apple Valley Aquatic Center.
See map below.
Summer Parking Lot Map Changes Beginning June 9
New: We Need Tissues! 😷💨
Cold and allergy season has hit, and we're running low on Kleenex in classrooms. If you're able to send in a box (or a few!), we’d really appreciate it!
Just have your student drop them off at the attendance office—so easy!
Thanks so much for keeping our students (and teachers!) covered.
New: Halo Smart Sensors Promote Safety and Well-Being
To promote safety and well-being, District 196 is installing Halo Smart Sensors in restrooms effective Monday, April 21. These smart sensors allow for monitoring of air quality, vaping, and safety.
Our goals are:
- To use time and location data to interrupt behaviors or adjust supervision in specific areas.
- To prevent more serious behavior issues (e.g., bullying, agitation).
- To encourage families to talk with students about healthy choices and vaping.
- To work together with families to foster safe, healthy, and supportive schools for all learners.
Vaping is prohibited in school. By increasing supervision and early intervention, we can support students in making informed, positive decisions about their health and maintain a positive school environment.
These smart sensors are funded by the 2023 Bond Referendum to improve safety, security, and supervision.
Click for more info for Halo Smart Sensors.
New: Sign Up for SUN Bucks
SUN Bucks is a new federal program (formerly known as Summer EBT) that provides $120 in child food benefits to bridge the summer meal gap. SUN Bucks is a joint effort with District 196 and MN Department of Children, Youth, and Families. The SUN Bucks card is mailed from MN Department of Children, Youth, and Families to the primary address District 196 has on file. School-aged children between the ages of 7-17 whose households participate in specific public assistance programs or qualify to receive educational benefits can receive this summer benefit. Families not yet enrolled should apply for educational benefits through our school district. Access the state’s SUN Bucks webpage to learn more or visit the MNbenefits webpage for other support programs.
Support the Learning Commons – View Our Wishlist!
The EVHS Learning Commons accepts a variety of donations that help foster hands-on learning, creativity, and exploration. From craft supplies to tech tools, every contribution helps enrich student experiences. You can view our full wish list here.
Right now, our top need is used smartphones. These devices will be used to power our VR headsets and run our Sphero robots—bringing interactive, tech-rich learning opportunities to life. Even older or imperfect phones can still make a meaningful impact in our makerspace.
Smartphone Donation Criteria:
To be compatible with our equipment, donated phones should:
- Be unlocked (not tied to a specific carrier)
- Have Wi-Fi capability (cell service is not required)
- Have a working screen and basic touch functionality
- Be usable even with limited battery life (phones can remain plugged in)
- Be either iPhones or Android devices
All phones will be factory reset before being used by students.
How to Donate:
Please label your donation “Learning Commons” and bring it to the West Door Security Desk (#1) at Eastview High School. We appreciate your support in helping us create a vibrant, innovative space where students can explore, create, and learn. For any questions, please contact Ms. Sonnenberg in the Learning Commons.
Educational Benefits - More Than Just Lunch
Families are encouraged to complete an Educational Benefits Application. Your children may qualify! Applications are now open.
While meals are free for all students, all families are highly encouraged to complete an Application for Educational Benefits. Your approved application provides critical funding to our school district. This compensatory aid helps increase funding for teachers, paraprofessionals and social workers to include math and reading support. An approval for educational benefits also allows families to receive discounted Activities/Community Education fees. Learn more about the Educational Benefits Program.
Questions or concerns: ask our Nutrition Services department at Nutrition@district196.org or 651-683-6958.

Calling All Students for WIN Wednesday!
Students can benefit from an opportunity for academic support every Wednesday afternoon from 2:40pm – 4:15pm in the flex room located in the learning commons. Students are supported to complete their schoolwork learning in a supervised setting. In addition students can also utilize the WIN program to make up tests they may have missed. Students can get this approved through their teacher ahead of time and the test will be ready for them to take during WIN. Faculty and staff are available along with upper-class peer tutors (especially skilled in Mathematics). Students will identify their priorities (“What I Need” or “What’s Important Now”), create a plan for the most efficient use of their time, celebrate their accomplishments, and leave with a plan for continued success. Students do not need to sign up in advance for WIN Time. We do ask that students plan to be there for the start at 2:40pm so they can benefit from the full support. We will keep a log of students and their engagement (arrival/departure time and their focus/work while they are there). For students needing transportation home, activity buses will be available departing at 4:45pm.

BRAVO! 2025: I Want My MTV will celebrate MTV – its influences and its reach into pop culture – through a wide variety of musical numbers, as performed through singing, dance, jazz band and technical theatre.
