Principal's Corner
Dear Hirsch Hawk Parents and Guardians,
This week, our students will be taking their Middle of Year (MOY) Assessments, which play an essential role in understanding their academic growth and progress. Here’s an overview of the assessments by grade level:
- Pre-K: Students will take the Circle Assessment, which evaluates early literacy, math, and social-emotional development.
- Kinder through 2nd Grade: Students will take mClass for Reading and MAP for Math. mClass helps us assess foundational reading skills, while MAP evaluates their mathematical understanding and growth.
- 3rd through 5th Grade: Students will take MAP for both Reading and Math to gauge their progress in these core areas.
These assessments are administered three times per year—at the beginning, middle, and end of the year. Each provides us with valuable data to monitor your child’s growth and tailor instruction to meet their individual needs.
Every student has a growth goal they are striving for, and this week is their chance to show how much they have learned since the start of the year. Our goal is not just for students to meet their targets but to exceed them, putting them on track for long-term success.
We encourage you to talk with your child about the importance of these tests and to remind them to do their absolute best. A positive attitude and effort can make a significant difference!
To celebrate their hard work, we will host a GROW Party on December 19, for every student who reaches their growth goal. We are excited about this opportunity to recognize and reward their accomplishments, and we hope all of our Hirsch Heroes will join in the celebration.
Thank you for your continued support in helping your child succeed. Together, we can ensure that they achieve their fullest potential.
Warm wishes,
Principal Patterson

Shout out to the following students for representing Hirsch Elementary School!
Hirsch Elementary Student Council: This past week our student council attended the TEPSA Student Leadership Conference and received the TEPSA Student Leadership Award for their work in impacting our school:
In 2018 the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA) established the TEPSA Student Leadership Award to honor outstanding student leadership teams and their impact on our school communities in the state of Texas. It is with great pride that we announce that the following school in Spring Independent School District has met all the standards to receive this prestigious award!

Schools of Choice
Dear 5th Grade Parents:
It's time to start planning for Middle School! Spring ISD offers both choice and program opportunities for students. The goal is to ensure families can find the best fit for their student, whether it’s taking part in a specialty program at their neighborhood campus or applying to one of the district’s schools of choice.
The opportunities to explore different interests and careers are extensive and distinguish Spring ISD as a district of choice with no limits on what students can achieve.
With students at the center of everything we do, we want our families to have options as they look for the right fit for their child. No matter what school your child attends, our mission is always the same: Provide an excellent education that prepares students for lifelong success – in college, career and/or the military.
Learn more about our schools of choice below. Please note, families can apply to multiple schools using a single online application.

Attendance Matters!
Attendance is so important for student success. Hirsch Elementary is committed to encouraging students to come to school everyday. Each grade level is participating in weekly and monthly attendance contests to see who has the highest attendance. Classes and grade levels with the highest attendance will get a reward! Everyday attendance equals everyday success. Thank you for partnering with us for your child's success.
