From the Assistant Principal
Happy Friday Colt Families,
What a great, but short week with Glo lunches, Walk to School Day, Career Day & Bosses Day! Fall has definitely arrived this week even though these last few mornings have felt a little like winter.
Last night we exceeded our school goal of raising $100, 000! As of this morning, The Greatest GLO on Earth has raised $111,590 thanks to 1,586 donations and our PTO GLO circus is still counting donations from our Walk to School day this morning! These funds are going to bring so many wonderful benefits to all CCE students! Thank you to everyone who has donated, volunteered their time, and to everyone who has joined in the fun whether you were able to donate or not! This week our Milton Jr Eagles cheerleaders & football team came over to support us. We are all one big, happy family at CCE!
With that being said....I am wondering... HOW HIGH CAN WE GLO $$? https://vimeo.com/367242035
Fundraising will close TONIGHT at midnight and how amazing would it be if we could supersede our total of $133,00 from last year? Great surprises are in store if we do! Are you up for the challenge? Sponsor a random student in your child's class, get a corporate match and collect those last minute donations. Donate here: https://ccesglo.everydayhero.do/
A extra special thank you to all of the amazing families that joined us for the GLO lunches this week on National School Lunch Day. It was an honor to be the celebrity server and the smiley fries were a hit!
Walk to School day was an absolute success! We had so many families who braved the colder weather today, and jumped in the GLO photo booth for some fun. Ms. Lundy hosted Career Day today with the support of our Peacekeepers. It would go without saying that this would not have been such a success without our parents and community partners who volunteered to inspire our Colts as they think about future professions for Career Day.
Tonight our Milton High School Eagles will take on South Forsyth for Homecoming. The parade will begin at 6:00pm beginning at City Hall and will travel along Birmingham Hwy until it reaches MHS. If you are attending it's a RED out so show your Eagle pride and wear red. See you there!
Hope to watch CCE GLO & GROW!
Your ringmaster, Ms. Haltrecht Strother
Bus Driver Appreciation Day - Monday, 10/21
We appreciate our bus drivers!
FULTON COUNTY SCHOOLS CALENDAR CHANGES- SAVE THE DATES
- March 24, 2020 (GA Presidential primary election) will be a teacher workday.
- April 21, 2020 (state-wide election) will be a student Digital Learning Day and a teacher professional development day.
- May 19, 2020 (state-wide election) will be a student Digital Learning Day and a teacher professional development day.
Since April 21 and May 19 are state-wide election days, there is high-volume participation of the public at polling stations located in our schools, and this increases the potential for security concerns.
By utilizing digital learning activities, students will be able to maintain their focus on instruction even though they are not on campus. This also allows staff the opportunity to participate in high-quality professional development to deepen their knowledge and skills.
Thank you for your support and flexibility. Dr. Mike Looney

IOWA Testing Begins Monday
Students in grades 3 and 5 will be taking the IOWA Assessments next week, October 21st through October 25th. The purpose of this norm-referenced test (NRT) is to obtain information about how the performance of Georgia’s/Fulton’s students compare with that of students in a national sample, an external reference group. Score reports for these assessments are expected to arrive at CCE in late November. The results are used for evaluation, decision-making, and instructional improvement.
Testing will take place from 7:50 am until approximately 11:00 am. To ensure that your child has an opportunity to perform at his or her best, you can help by taking the steps listed below.
1. Ensure your child is present and on time each morning. Avoid scheduling doctor/dentist appointments during the testing period.
2. Discuss the importance of testing with your son/daughter in a supportive, nurturing manner.
3. Limit evening activities prior to testing so that adequate time is provided for rest.
4. Provide a nutritious breakfast at home or encourage your son/daughter to eat breakfast at school.
5. In the event an emergency arises, please contact your student’s teacher.
Thank you for your cooperation during testing. If you have questions regarding any aspect of testing, please contact the school at (470) 254-7055 or your child’s teacher.
We will have no guests for lunch during the testing window.
