Student Showcase

The Board of Education Student Showcase honors students with top honors in local, state, and national competitions. The award to each honoree is provided through the generous support of the MPS Foundation.

Student Board Representatives Honored

This marks the 40th year student representatives have served on the Board of Education. Each high school has one representative. Students give a report of high school events, activities, and athletics at each meeting. Last night this year's representatives were honored for their year of service. Pictured from left to right are Board Treasurer Amanda McGill Johnson, Board Member Mike Pate, Board President Stacy Jolley, Millard West Representative Tori Karloff, Millard North Representative Reema Guda, Board Secretary Linda Poole, Board Vice-President Mike Kennedy, and Superintendent Dr. John Schwartz. Millard South Representative Josephine McPhaull was not able to attend last night due to a school activity.

More Than Half of Millard High School Students Take Advanced Classes

The Board received the High Ability Learner Program report last night. Among the highlights of the report:

Approximately 9% of elementary students were identified as HAL.
Roughly 51.5% of middle school students, including those in above-level math and English classes were identified.
About 66% of high school students were enrolled in Honors, AP, or IB classes.

Kiewit Middle School Principal Marshall Smith has been named the Nebraska State Association of Secondary School Principals Region II Middle School Principal of the Year.
Millard North High School Assistant Principal Mary Bayne has been honored with the Nebraska State Association of Secondary School Principals Region II Distinguished Service Award.
Millard North Middle School Assistant Principal Dr. Anna Thoma has been named to the National Association of Secondary School Principals National Board of Directors.
