Book Fair at Magnolia
The Magnolia Elementary library recently held a book fair. During the family night and throughout the week, $3,511.61 was earned to benefit the library, and 1,170 books were purchased by students, parents, and teachers. Thank you to all who came out in support of Magnolia and reading!
ACAP Practice Makes Progress
Professional development is essential for ensuring student success, and Cahaba 2nd- 5th-grade teachers recently took another step in preparing students for the ACAP state assessment. Led by Christi Watts (Reading Coach), Amy Prickett (Librarian), and Mandy McIntosh (Building Test Coordinator), teachers participated in a focused training session designed to maximize the use of the ACAP practice test data.
During the session, leaders guided teachers through analyzing student data from the ACAP practice test. Using this information, they developed a strategic plan to implement state-provided test resources effectively. The goal is to address instructional needs and reinforce key skills, ensuring students feel confident and prepared when taking the state assessment. Our educators are equipping students with the tools they need to succeed. Using the ACAP practice data doesn’t just prepare students—it builds their confidence, helping them progress toward academic achievement.
Butterfly Life Cycle with Paine Third Graders
This week at Paine Elementary, our 3rd grade students explored the life cycle of butterflies. They observed the transformation from the larva and chrysalis stages to the exciting moment when beautiful butterflies emerged!
HTMS Mush Mentors Lead by Example
This week during 8th period, HTMS Mush Mentors Moses, James, Loren, and Olivia took the lead in guiding our sixth graders through an important discussion on bullying. They covered key topics such as what bullying is, the role of bystanders, how to respond if you’re being bullied, and practical tips for handling bullying situations. We’re so proud of these students for stepping up to create a more supportive and informed school community!

Our set has been designed with 4th and 5th grade students in EnRICh. And our AMAZING Frozen KIDS cast is comprised of an incredible group of 4th and 5th grade students – who have a passion for song and theater. We PROUDLY invite you to our show and welcome you to join our Facebook/Instagram pages for all things FROZEN! Tickets are on sale now!
Magnolia Celebrates Black History Month
During the month of February, students at Magnolia are learning about the lives of notable African Americans throughout history. Recently, Ms. Michelle Dawson, Instructional Paraprofessional, read students the book, Trombone Shorty, and shared with students instrumental music she taped while visiting places mentioned in the book. Then, students listened to a variety of music by Louis Armstrong, Trombone Shorty, and Duke Ellington while researching the lives of African American heroes.
The February Husky Howl is LIVE! This month we meet two different sets of heroes on our TCS campuses: Our incredible school counselors and our amazing SROs. Dr. Hamilton walks us through important dates coming up this month, and we recall the "magic" of the Book Fair when we were children. Finally we look ahead to the February 24th board meeting, where our STEM program will be front and center.

Congratulations to HTHS senior, Sadie Benson and HTHS English teacher, Mrs. Jennifer Coleman for being named the Trussville Rotary Daybreak Club Student and Teacher of the Month for February!
Sadie is the HTHS color guard captain, a member of Science Olympiad, HTHS Service Association, Leadership HT, Girls in Engineering, Focus Club, and Math Team. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta.
When asked about Mrs. Coleman's positive impact on her, Sadie said "English has always been a subject I have lacked confidence in, and going into my first AP English class, I was intimidated by the rigor of the course. Mrs. Coleman did an absolutely wonderful job teaching the class in a was that made it feel accomplishable for me. She helped bring me out of my comfort zone, and she made me feel confident in my ability to try new things and excel in unfamiliar areas."
This week, Trussville Rotarians had the opportunity to hear from HTHS Hospitality and Culinary Arts Academy instructor, Chef Anna Hallman! Chef Hallman spoke about upcoming events and competitions her students will be a part of, and the importance of gaining hands-on experience in catering and hospitality.
