The Lakeville South Marching Band Shines on State's Biggest Stage; Performs on Home Stage This Saturday, Oct. 26!
The Lakeville South Marching Cougars shined on the biggest stage our state offers in US Bank Stadium at the Youth in Music State and Regional Championships. You can see the award winning band this Saturday at their annual Band Breakfast Bonanza in the Lakeville South Commons and Auditorium as they conclude their season indoors! Breakfast and games with a backdrop of jazz ensemble music, starts at 8:30 AM with the main event starting in the auditorium at noon! The concert is FREE and breakfast tickets can be purchased HERE!
The band's show is entitled SHATTERED. The passionate music, based on Beethoven's Fur Elise, tells the story of how we make the world a more beautiful place by shining our light and reflecting the light of each other. The band concludes their show in shirts filled with mirrors symbolically spreading the light of everyone around the performance space. The performers wrote the names of those that bring light to their life on the back of each mirror reflecting their light with all!
The band is made of any interested high school students in the Lakeville School District that desire a competitive fall show experience. The band earned many overall champion designations during their season both on the parade circuit and on the field. The band performed at the top of their game at US Bank Stadium at the Youth in Music State and Regional Championship, earning second place in Minnesota Class AAA! There were 35 bands that performed from Minnesota, the Dakotas, Wisconsin and Nebraska. The Lakeville South Marching Cougars earned a spot in the championship night event where the top 11 bands displayed their shows for the audience. The band earned seventh place in the five state area!
