Garden Update
Greetings!
Thanks to the parents that came out to support our market table. We appreciate all three of you. The students really enjoy harvesting and setting up these market tables. We harvested carrots, cilantro, beans, green onions, pumpkins, and winter squash. Since we had such a poor turnout, we sent most of the produce home with the students and staff. Thank you to all the upper elementary students that helped on Wednesday.
This week was split between our egg scrambles and the collection and sorting of bottle caps. Tuesday classes sorted bottle caps and harvested carrots. I keep a bottle of ranch ready for these occasions. It makes the consumption of carrots all the more delicious! Thursday classes made the egg scrambles. Don’t worry! If you missed out on the egg scramble this week, then your group will participate in that lesson after the holiday break.
Goats will be here in January. We will also set up more worm bins for lower elementary. We will host a parent workday in early February so stay tuned for information on that. I will ask the wonderful Lauren Kutsko to create a volunteer signup after the holidays.
Here’s my email in case you need to reach me: james.obrien-moench@phxschools.org
Home Depot gift cards are always appreciated. Continue bringing your aluminum cans, coffee grounds, eggshells, and bottle caps. You can leave them on the table outside the front office except for the bottle caps. Have your child drop them in their classroom bin.
If you have any flagstone cuts or wood cuts, we will also take them. We will also accept any tool donations for the field garden and/or ODE.
Enjoy your holiday break!
Mr. Moench
