A Message from Mrs. Van Slyke
We had such a wonderful experience during our parent teacher conferences! Thank you for your partnership in your child’s education. Our caring teachers are providing an engaging learning environment, which sparks curiosity and a love for learning within each child, but we cannot be successful without our partnership with you. We are grateful for your continued commitment to your child’s learning and please know that we are all working as a team toward the success of your child. Thank you!

Caribou Migration Results
We would like to thank all of those who were involved in the Great Caribou Migration. It was an incredible day of exercise and positive interactions. Our herd was able to run a grand total of 5,634 laps! That is equal to over 515 miles! That is greater than the distance from Soldotna to the North Slope! We raised a grand total of $8,888! Your support will help us purchase educational software and supplies for our students. Thank you!

Attendance
Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school - and themselves! Here are a couple of tips to help your child build a habit of great attendance:
- Keep your child healthy. Make sure your child stays up to date with doctor's appointments and is practicing healthy habits to stop the spread of germs and illnesses.
- Seek advice. If your child has a minor illness and you're not sure if they should come to school or stay home, call the school and ask.

Parking Lot Safety
Please help us ensure that our parking lot is as safe as possible by keeping your child in your car until 7:30am. Our staff arrives on duty at 7:30 to help students cross safely. When students are let out of cars before then, and when cars drive through the drop off lanes before 7:30, it increases the risk of a child being hit. Our goal is to keep everyone safe and we need your help!

2024-2025 School Development Goals
Each year, our staff works together with our Site Council to develop measurable goals for the school year. This year we are continuing our focus on reading growth and improving student attendance. Last year our school achieved all three of our school development goals!
Goals:
1. By May of 2025, the percentage of kindergarten through third grade students whose score on the mCLASS composite is at or above grade level will increase by 18%.
2. By May of 2025, 80% of our fourth through sixth grade students will make annual growth in reading as measured by either the winter or spring MAP assessment.
3. By May of 2025, the number of absences will be reduced by 15% (907 fewer absences) in Kindergarten through sixth grade.
