Dear Bloomingdale Bear Families,
Welcome Back! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break! We look forward to welcoming our bears back to school on Monday.
There are now 3 weeks left in the first half of our school year. Time goes by so quickly! We will be testing on iReady and AMIRA this month in addition to having some holiday fun along the way!

Book Fair
Dear Families,
Get ready—the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! This is a great opportunity to connect with your child over the thrill of bringing home new books to dive into again and again. Studies show that kids read more when they choose books for themselves. And fostering a love of independent reading leads to a wide variety of benefits—including academic success and improved mental health.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Book Fair:
Dates: December 9th – December 13th
Location: Bloomingdale Elementary @ the NHK8 School Media Center
Family Event: Join us on Tuesday, December 10th, from 5 -7 for Chorus Musical and Family Literacy Night and to shop the Book Fair!
There’s even more info on our school’s Book Fair homepage:
https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/bloomingdaleelementaryschool5
While you’re there, set up a Book Fair eWallet, the digital payment account that allows your child to shop for books at the Fair without cash. Then share your eWallet link so friends and extended family can add funds.
When you fund an eWallet, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to a giving initiative called
Share the Fairâ„¢. Your contributions directly support our students who need help buying books
from the Fair. Many of us still remember the rush of finding the perfect book at a Scholastic Book Fair. I hope you’ll join your child at our school’s Fair and share a reading experience they’ll remember forever. Happy reading,
Benjamin Lam, Principal
Bloomingdale Elementary School
PS: Need one more reason to visit the Book Fair? Every purchase at the Fair benefits our school!

School Council
Georgia law requires each school to have an advisory group known as the School Council. This group is created to offer advice to the school board, superintendent and principal on matters pertaining to student achievement and school improvement. Membership on the School Council consists of parents, teachers, business/community partners and the principal. The school council meets approximately four times during the school year.
Parents exercise an important role on the School Council and are key to its success. For a parent to serve, there is an election held among the parent population of the school. In this connection, we are seeking parents/guardians of a student currently enrolled at Bloomingdale Elementary School who would be interested in being a part of this important group and participating in the election process. Please email Mr. Lam with your interest at benjamin.lam@sccpss.com
