Chisholm Update
August 30, 2024

Happy last weekend of the 1st semester Chisholm Families!
Charge Up yesterday had a little more charge than normal, but that always seems to be the case when you play holiday music typical for this time of year. During the assembly, we were able to recognize our first graders for their program that was presented to students during the week and to parents on Thursday evening. We were also able to run through some of dress up days for next week (there is a flyer in the newsletter below) and go over the parties for Wednesday and Thursday.
Also during Charge Up, we were also able to announce that Leigh Cobb was name a district finalist for the 2024-25 Teacher of the Year. As you may recall, we had previously announced Leigh as our site TOY several weeks ago. Leigh does an amazing job as our DD/ Pre K teacher and we know she will represent our site and teaching well moving forward. We are very excited for her to be recognized as a finalist the district TOY award. Congratulations Mrs. Cobb!
Earlier this week, we conducted our December PTO meeting. The minutes from that meeting, along with the minutes from previous meetings, have been added below to this newsletter.
I would also like to take a moment to acknowledge and thank our school's PTO for their continued support of our students, teachers, and staff. From the monthly meetings, staff recognitions (this month it is our district maintenance staff), making copies in the workroom, reshelving books in the media center, school parties, Dads on Duty, and the various committees and chairs, our school's PTO does a phenomenal job supporting so many aspects around the school. If you would like more information on our PTO and the programs or activities they support they can be reached by email at chisholmpto@gmail.com.
This coming Wednesday and Thursday, the grade levels are scheduled to have their winter parties, The dates and times are listed below. We are splitting these parties over two days to help with traffic and flow. Please keep in mind if you are a homeroom or parent that has signed up to attend a party that we know parking is difficult. Please use parking spaces in our lot and avoid parking in he fire lanes or bus loop. Pre K dismisses 30 minutes prior to the rest of the school and we would like for those parents to be able to get their students without having to navigate around cars parked illegally.
Speaking of our Pre K, some pictures have been added below of our classes and the recent canned goods/ mitten and sock drive they recently conducted. They did an amazing job collecting items that will benefit local food pantry and support those in need.
Thank you Mr. Fletcher for putting together the slide shows that our on the TVs outside the office. I've added this slideshow below titled Spending the Holidays Together, that outlines some of the activities around the school from the past 4 ot 5 weeks.
I hope you and your family are doing well as we head into the last 4 days before Winter Break. Just reminder that schools will be closed from December 20 - January 6. School will resume on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Happy Holidays!
Thomas Higdon

Arrival Drop-off Procedure Reminders - Please help us in making sure students safely to school by following these procedures:
- If you’d like to stay in your car, enter the drop-off using the entrance by our school marquee. Students can exit via passenger side of car using the sidewalk and entering the building towards our front doors. Do not drop students off in the west parking lot.
- If you don't want to use the drop-off line, you may park your vehicle and walk your students through the parking lot to one of the crosswalks. Please wait for the duty teacher to tell you when to cross. Do not allow your child to walk in the parking lot unattended by an adult.
- Do not use one of the handicapped parking spaces without proper identification on display.
- If you arrive after 8:45 and the duty teachers have entered the building, please plan to park and walk your child into the building to check them in using the kiosk by our office.
Dismissal Reminders
At the end of the day, we ask that early checkouts happen before 3:00. If your student is a 33rd Street Walker, they should live in Old Farm or Thornbrook. If your student is a Spring Hill Walker, they should live in the Springhill Neighborhood or the subsequent neighborhoods that are too close to receive bus transportation. Students that ride a bus will load from the gym once their bus arrives at school. If you need specifics on bus numbers and times please click this link, which will ask you to fill out your address.
Car Riders will need to use the Red Hangtag, which was given out at Meet the Teacher. (If you were unable to attend Meet the Teacher, our office is open 8-3:30 on Wednesday August 14.) Please be sure to make sure this tag is visible to the person out front entering the number by our marquee. Once their number has been entered, students will come out of the building by the first grade hallway and be positioned by one of the concrete bollards numbered 1-6 (please be sure to stay out far enough aways from the bollards so your car door doesn't get dinged). If you don't have your hangtag, you will need to pull in and check your student out from the office. There is a button below that goes through the Car Rider procedures.
