Monitor Elementary School
October 2024
Message from Principals
September was a wonderful month at Monitor Elementary! Students participated in fun learning activities, worked hard on ATLAS testing, and learned all about how mallards SOAR - Stay safe, Own our Actions, Act Responsibly, and Respect Ourselves, Others, and This Place. Our students performed at the Naturals game, and we loved seeing our families during student-led conferences! Students did a great job sharing about their new learning and goals for the school year at conferences, and we loved seeing our families! It was also fun to see our students get excited about picking out a new book at the book fair!
This month, we will have a fire safety assembly and our very first Monitor UNPLUGGED day! Kindergarten students will take a field trip, and we will have our fall family festival at Farmland Adventures. We will also celebrate Red Ribbon Week and have fall parties as well as our book character parade. October will be another great month, and we're looking forward to all we have planned!

Monitor Elementary School Hours
The school day begins at 7:45am. Students who arrive after this time should be signed in by an adult in the front office. Students are dismissed each day at 3:10pm with early release at 1:50pm on Wednesdays.
Student Check In/Check Out Procedures
Students who arrive after 7:45am should be checked in by an adult in the front office. If you need to change the way your child is going home, please contact your child's teacher or call the office by 2pm so there is enough time for the office to notify the teacher. Please note that if you are checking your student out, students will not be called to the office until a parent is in the office to pick them up. This ensures students are in class for instruction for as long as possible.
Mini Wild Dog Races
Our next mini wild dog races are October 2nd at Sonora Middle School and October 16th at George Junior High School. Kindergarten-2nd grade students run a half mile race and 3rd-5th students run a one mile race. Students should wear a Monitor shirt if they have one. Go, mallards!

Be sure to check out Facebook to see what we are up to on our first Monitor UNPLUGGED day of the school year! Christmas Assistance Opportunities
Below are links to information from several community organizations who are offering Christmas assistance to families this year. Below you can find links to information about the Salvation Army Angel Tree program, Miracle on 14th Street program being offered by The Compassion Coalition of NWA, and Christmas support being offered by Sharing and Caring (Benton County ONLY). Please reach out to our social worker, Mrs. Reina Hart, if you have any questions!
Student Attendance
Attendance at school is important for successful academic progress. Regular attendance is also required by Arkansas State Law 6-18-221. It is important for students to be at school each day and on time. Our goal at Monitor Elementary is to have all students miss no more than five days each semester. We do understand that children get sick periodically, however students should be at school unless they have a fever, have been vomiting, or have diarrhea. In addition, every effort should be made to schedule appointments outside school hours or on non-school days. Below you will find the 2024-2025 academic calendar. Please refer to this when scheduling appointments or trips so you can ensure students don't miss school when possible! If your child will not be at school, please call the school office at (479) 750-8749 or reach out to your child's teacher.
