Oakland Early College Info Night Webinar
3/18/2025, 7 p.m., Webinar - email morrison.borders@wbsd.org for the link
At Oakland Early College, we do school differently; through our partnership with Oakland Community College, we provide an early middle college experience where OEC students are simultaneously enrolled in high school and college classes at no cost to families. All students in 9th through 11th grade whose families reside in Oakland County can apply. Here, students earn transferable college credits, up to an associate's degree, that will follow them to a four year university. There is also an option to earn a work certificate through one of OCC’s many programs. All students are supported by our tenets of college, culture, community, and connection in a small and diverse school community while they progress through our five year high school program. Learn more at our webinar March 18.

Oakland Early College student Selma Allam wins DAR Good Citizen Award
Selma Allam is the recipient of the DAR Good Citizen Award from Oakland Early College. The Piety Hill Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, honored 16 local high school recipients of the Good Citizens Award and Scholarship Essay Contest in January at the Bloomfield Township Public Library.
The DAR Good Citizen Award recognizes and rewards individuals who possess good citizenship qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities. These students are selected by their teachers and peers because they demonstrate these qualities to an outstanding degree.
There are 3,000 chapters of the DAR in all 50 states and Washington D.C. The DAR headquarters complex occupies an entire city block near the White House. It was founded in 1890 as a nonprofit, nonpolitical volunteer women’s service organization dedicated to promoting historic preservation, education, and patriotism.
Selma is graduating from OEC a year early. She was able to do this by earning her associates degree by the end of her 12th grade year. She will graduate from OEC with above a 4.0 GPA and is the current MSA Debate Club President and the VP of Membership for NHS. She has previously held leadership positions for HOSA, Student Government and Book Club.
