CELEBRATIONS
TAJE Trailblazer Award winner Michael Hatch
Prosper High School Audio Video Production teacher Michael Hatch has recently been honored with the prestigious Trailblazer Award from the Texas Association of Journalism Educators. This recognition highlights Hatch's outstanding contributions to the field of scholastic journalism in Texas, setting him apart as a true innovator in his profession.
WGHS Coach honored
Walnut Grove High School Coach Sarah Fulfer has been named the North Texas High School Golf Coaches Association Boys Coach of the Year for the 2023-2024 school year. This prestigious honor, awarded through peer nominations and voting, recognizes Coach Fulfer's exceptional leadership and the outstanding success of her golf program. Under her guidance, both the boys' and girls' teams clinched district titles, with the boys also securing a regional championship. Most impressively, all three of Coach Fulfer's varsity teams qualified for the state tournament, a testament to her coaching prowess.
Principals Selected for Prestigious Institute
Three principals have been chosen to participate in the Principals' Institute, a year-long professional development program designed to transform public education leadership. The Institute, organized by N2Learning, selects only 60-70 principals each year from across the nation.
The Principals' Institute offers a unique opportunity for school leaders to gain insights into the necessity of educational transformation and develop crucial skills to lead and sustain change over time. Participants join an innovative network of educators that spans the country, collaborating and sharing ideas to shape the future of public education.
Prosper ISD is proud to announce that the following principals have been selected for this elite cohort:
- Kim Newman, Bryant Elementary School
- Ashley Gannon, Calhoun Early Childhood School
- Anthony Dunnington, Windsong Ranch Elementary School
This selection underscores Prosper ISD's commitment to educational excellence and leadership development. As Texas's public schools' future hinges on the quality of its leaders, the participation of these principals in the Institute represents a significant investment in the district's continued growth and success.
Principals Selected for Thompson Principal Academy
Rock Hill High School principal Terry Mouton and Joyce Hall Elementary School principal Stephanie Romero have been selected to participate in this year's Thompson Principal Academy cohort.
The Thompson Principal Academy, now in its 26th year, continues its mission of providing advanced leadership development to campus principals. With a competitive admission process and a limited class size of about 25 participants, the Academy aims to elevate already successful principals to even higher levels of leadership and proficiency.
Cockrell ES and Reynolds MS honored as Model PLC at Work Schools
Professional learning communities are schools and districts in which educators recognize that the key to improved student learning is ongoing, job-embedded learning for the adults who serve those students.
Model PLC at Work Schools are recognized based on strict criteria, including demonstrating a commitment to PLC concepts, implementing these concepts for at least 3 years, and clear evidence of improved student learning over that period. Once measurable results can be seen, the school must explain its practices, structures, and culture and submit its application for consideration by the PLC Review Committee.
Educators in the schools and districts selected as a Model PLC at Work School have shown a sustained commitment to helping their students achieve at high levels. They have been willing to alter the structure and culture of the organization to reflect their commitment.
Bryant and PHS earn Promising Practices PLC at Work status
Schools selected to receive the Promising Practices PLC at Work School designation follow the same approaches and guidelines as the Model PLC at Work Schools. The only difference is these schools must demonstrate implementation of the PLC concepts for one to two years
PHS recognized as an AP School Honor Roll
In addition to the Promising Practices School designation, Prosper High School has also been recognized as an AP School Honor Roll. The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP programs are delivering results for students while broadening access. Schools earn this recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing the attending college culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness.
