Dear LHS Families:
This is a busy time of year and the time sure seems to be flying by! As we approach our break, please encourage your student to stay on top of their academics. With only a couple of weeks before Winter Break and then a couple of weeks in January, the semester end and exams will be upon us in no time. With that being said, please start having conversations with your student(s) about this and how they can begin to prepare and plan for them now. As a reminder, GPAs are configured on semester grades and are cumulative, meaning that GPAs fluctuate based on semester grades throughout the entirety of a student's high school journey. Also, credit is only awarded by passing classes. Please be sure that you are regularly checking Powerschool to monitor your student's academic success and attendance.
We also want to remind you that all students need to be in an assigned location with a coach/staff member if they are involved in an after school activity. Students that are not in a designated activity must be picked up or out of the building by 2:45 p.m. Students are not permitted to stay in the building beyond 2:45 p.m. to attend LHS sporting events. Please see THIS FLYER regarding important information for attending Winter Sports competitions.
Should you need to reach out to us, please contact the administrator that has your child/children's last name. We're here to help!
Co-Principal Ms. Melcher (A-L)
Co-Principal Ms. Winborn (M-Z)
SLT UPDATE
Dear LHS Parents, Guardians, and Community,
The School Leadership Team (SLT) is committed to continuously improving the culture at LHS. Each week, we focus on one of our PBIS pillars: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe, and Be Kind.
Supporting PBIS Rewards
Our PBIS Rewards program could use a refresh, and we’re hoping our Lincoln community can help! We’ve created an Amazon Wish List to support our efforts in recognizing and rewarding students for positive behavior. Thank you in advance for your generosity—it truly makes a difference!
In addition, the SLT is seeking sponsors for monthly schoolwide rewards, such as donuts, cookies, or other treats. If you have ideas or are interested in sponsoring a reward, please reach out to schwegler@lincolnk12.org.
Addressing Tardiness
Our data shows that tardiness to class is becoming a challenge. As partners in your child’s success, you can help by checking tardy records in PowerSchool and discussing the importance of punctuality with your student.
Here are some key points to emphasize in your conversation:
- Loss of Instructional Time: Tardies mean students miss crucial content, often foundational work at the start of class.
- Disruption to Learning: Arriving late interrupts the flow of the class and affects peers’ learning.
- Punctuality is a Life Skill: Being on time prepares students for real-world expectations like jobs, appointments, and public transportation schedules.
- Building Successful Habits: Consistent routines create positive habits that lead to long-term success.
Thank you for your continued support in fostering a positive and productive environment at LHS. Together, we can help our students thrive!
Warm regards,
LHS School Leadership Team

Why is Track Club so expensive?
Actually, the LAB Track Club isn't expensive compared to other track clubs! The LAB TC is really like many other club sports - travel softball or baseball, club volleyball, or AAU basketball. Our track club costs are similar to other track clubs, even those who don't have their own indoor facility!
We realize that the LAB TC looks expensive when compared to school sports, but it isn't a school sport. The club takes no funding from Lincoln Consolidated Schools, including funding for coaches salaries, uniforms and equipment, or meet fees. Our athletes also pay no additional entry fees for running in LAB meets, significantly cutting the cost versus athletes from other clubs.
We're doing our best to be cost effective, but the LAB Track Club must cover its own costs, and provide a small profit to support some of the overhead of managing the Community Education program.
We offer a payment plan at check-out for those who may benefit from using this feature - initial payment of $95 is due at sign-up, payment #2 ($90) will be completed using the card provided at registration on 1/3/25 and the final payment ($90) will be completed on 1/24/25!
Training Information:
- All practices will take place on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
- Participants will practice from 3:30-5:45pm
- The indoor season will run from December 2, 2024 - February 23, 2025
- For the winter season, all practices will take place in the Lincoln Athletic Building (LAB)
