Last month, The University of St Andrews Careers Centre and USA Development Team brought together a panel of alumni speakers, to discuss career opportunities in creative industries.
We heard from a great panel of experts, including:

Supply Chain Analyst / Data Scientist
The Supply Chain Team within Tesco is a global operation responsible for getting hundreds of millions of products from farms and factories, to millions of customers every day. The demands on Tesco's supply chain have never been greater. Customers want more flexibility in the way that they shop and demand an ever-growing range of products.
What you will get to do:
- Lead development projects that improve the Supply Chain for Tesco, suppliers and customers.
- Develop a deep understanding of how the retail industry, supply chain and store operations work.
- Use a combination of data and business understanding to define problems and find creative solutions.
- Report data accurately and transform it into useful information with a context.
- Own the project - build engagement, influence relevant stakeholders and deliver change in line with milestones.
- Measure the costs and benefits associated with your work and make recommendations.

Drivers of Change Competition
Autocar are running a brand new competition - Drivers of Change !
Autocar’s Drivers of Change initiative seeks to promote talent interested in entering three exciting areas of the automotive industry: technology, digital and retail. It is being delivered in partnership with executive search specialists Ennis & Co with the goal of energising the industry through innovative thinking.
A winner will be selected for each category, receiving £5000, as well as the opportunity to attend the Society for Motor Manufacturers (SMMT) dinner, the biggest automotive industry event of the year. To enter, simply write a few words and create a short video explaining an idea that will benefit the car industry.

Developing your soft skills is a crucial part of making yourself more employable, which is why HSBC have designed these workshops to target the most in-demand skills fit for the current climate, useful for all students no matter their career intentions!
A personal brand; everyone has one but why is it important and how do you begin to identify and build your own? In the competitive graduate job market, a personal brand is a superb tool to help you stand out and give employers what they want to see.
This hour long workshop covers what is a personal brand, why it is important to think about your own and practical tips in order to help you identify and build it.

Bright Network - Internship Experiences Open Now!
Gain an introduction to the workplace this summer through Bright Network's internship experience programme!
Bright Network have teamed up with leading employers and industry experts to deliver a range of work experience programmes for students and graduates. These internship experiences are free and fully virtual, meaning you can take part from anywhere around the world. Sectors include technology, investment banking, professional services, marketing, consulting and law.
As part of the 3-day programme, you will get:
- Sector-focused skills workshops delivered by leading employers
- Set project work to simulate what you’d do on an internship
- Support, insight and guidance from the firms and recent graduates
- Networking opportunities with your cohort of internship experience participants
