Weekly Cougar News
ConVal High School Happenings - November 10, 2022
Message from Principal McKillop
Good Afternoon, Cougar Nation!
Even though this has been a week shortened by two days, great things continue to happen, both in and out of the classrooms, at ConVal High School. On a daily basis, I see students engaged in learning, working on projects, and collaborating on group assignments.
There are some special student achievements I would like to highlight this week. Two of our students have been honored with Silent Servant awards by the Peter R. Marsh Foundation. In athletics, five of our students have received NH All-State honors in volleyball, field hockey, and golf, respectively — three as First Team members and two in the Honorable Mention category. Student Council members organized two successful events recently, a mud volleyball tournament and a blood drive, and have proven themselves as successful leaders in the school community.
Speaking of community: please consider attending the ConVal Community Forum tonight from 6:30-8:30 pm, either in person in the Lucy Hurlin Theatre or via the YouTube live stream (www.youtube.com/c/ConValEvents). There is also an opportunity for a meet-and-greet with School Board members after the presentations. For more details, please go to this web post on the District website.
Looking ahead, tomorrow is Veterans Day, a day that is designated to honor service members of the United States Armed Forces. If you have a veteran in your family or know someone, perhaps a neighbor or a colleague, who has served or is currently serving, please make sure to thank them for their service.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Best,
Heather

Students Honored with Silent Servant Awards
Congratulations to Callie Boisvert and Abbey Shumway who were chosen as the recipients of the Silent Servant award and a $500 prize from the Peter R. Marsh Foundation. The award recognizes outstanding high school students who have demonstrated altruistic and selfless voluntary service to their communities. Boisvert and Shumway were recognized for initiating the "Break the Silence 5K" race which they first organized during their freshman year at ConVal. The race has taken place for the past three years and has raised a total of more than $13,000 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
