Caldwell Connection
October 2021
A Message from the Principal
October is a busy month at Caldwell Elementary! Please make sure you read about all the things we have going on so that you can stay connected and involved.
Thank you to all of the families who participated in our Big Kahuna Fundraiser! We aren't sure exactly what our profit is yet, but total sells were over $30,000! Once we know how much we will get to keep, we will begin to make plans on how we will spend the money. We will keep you updated!
Be sure to ask you students about Paw Prints and how many their class has earned. We use Paw Prints at school to reinforce being Safe, Respectful, and Responsible. When a class earns 100 Paw Prints they get a special shout-out on morning announcements and receive a reward. Our classes have been hard at work!
Thank you for all of your support. CWES believes that if we work together, anything is possible and ALL kids can succeed. Please let us know if there is anything that your student needs.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Dossey

Important Information
- We will be having a FALL FESTIVAL on October, 29th from 6:00pm-8:00pm. This is going to be a fun event with food, games, and prizes. Plan to bring the whole family out for some quality time and opportunities to build connections with CWES teachers and staff.
- During our Fall Festival we will have a Storybook Character Costume Contest and a Pumpkin Decorating Contest. Both costumes and pumpkins should be based on a book that your student loves to read. Start preparing now! We will have some special guest judges.
- Please complete the FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH APPLICATION. Despite all students having access to free breakfast and lunch, it is very important that we collect this information from families. Part of our campus funding is directly tied to the information provided on this form.
- CWES has purchased an online program called Istation. This program assesses each student's current level in reading and math and then designs individual activities to target specific skills. Teachers are using this program in the classroom, but it is also a great tool to use at home. Encourage your students to practice both reading and math when they have some extra time. They access the program through Clever.
- We need your help! Our students have the opportunity to participate in an amazing program called, Math Pentathlon! However, we need parent volunteers to help manage this program. You do not need any special skills or advanced knowledge of math. Please read more about Math Pentathlon HERE. If you are interested in helping with this program, please provide your name and contact information on this FORM.
- Report cards will be available on 10/14 in the Skyward Parent Portal. If you need help accessing the Parent Portal, please contact Diana Fabian at 512-594-6400 or diana.fabian@pfisd.net.
Reminders
- We are having some traffic concerns around the entrance and exit to our parking lot. During arrival and dismissal, some cars are turning left when leaving the parking lot. We ask that as you are leaving during these times that you only make a right hand turn. This will help traffic congestion as well as increase safety of our students and crossing guard who are in the cross walk. Also, please remember that cell phones are prohibited in school zones and that the speed limit is 20MPH. Thank you for doing all you can to keep everyone safe and keep our procedures efficient.
- All parents should have a parent/teacher conference in the month of October to receive information on your child's current academic performance. If you haven't scheduled one with your teacher yet, be sure to reach out to them.
Return to Learn: COVID Updates
- Please always refer to the PfISD Return to Learn Website for the most up to date information.
Protective measures, including the use of face coverings, are highly encouraged for all staff, students and visitors regardless of vaccination status. At this time, masks will be required for students, staff, and visitors when attending Pflugerville ISD, in accordance with the current Travis County mask order. We are awaiting a final Supreme Court Order relating to Travis County's Order and expect it to be issued soon.
