Busting into November!
Greetings Webber Elementary Students and Parents,
The Halloween Parade and our classroom celebrations were terrific, with fun had by all. Be sure to check out the Webber Facebook page to see pictures that captured the excitement. Many thanks to all the parents that visited as spectators, as well as those who assisted our teachers. This year – finally – mother nature delivered some ideal weather for trick-or-treating. I’m sure there are a few kids nursing tummy aches this morning, perhaps indulging in a little too much candy last night!
Tomorrow, November 2, our Garden Club is hosting a campus cleanup from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. If you’re interested in lending a hand, please bring your gloves, clippers, and rakes. The link to sign up is provided here: November 2 Webber Cleanup Sign-Up. Volunteers should meet Mrs. Mucci and Mrs. Burks at the Webber Main Entrance at 10:00 a.m.
Next week, we’re thrilled to host parent-teacher conferences. I truly value the partnership between school and home – we are collectively invested in supporting the academic and social development of our students. During conference week, Ms. Fleming will be hosting our Scholastic Book Fair in the Media Center. Students will have designated dates to visit and shop with their assigned classes during the school day. In addition, the book fair will be open for parents during evening conferences on November 6 and 7 (4:00 – 7:00 p.m.). Stop by and see some of the great books being offered! There’s an opportunity for parents to volunteer (see section in this week’s newsletter), particularly on Thursday evening (11/7).
Reminder: LOCS District policy states that elementary aged students are not allowed to have cell phones or smart watches on during the school day. If they have them in school, they need to be turned off and in their lockers.
The Detroit Lions were well represented with students’ costumes on Halloween. Let’s keep the winning streak going! Student and staff can rock the Honolulu blue and silver on Monday to celebrate when it happens.
Have a wonderful weekend. GO Dragons!

Parent Teacher Conferences - November 4 - 8
Teachers have communicated their conference sign-up forms in their newsletters. Parents have the opportunity to schedule an in-person meeting or opt for a virtual Zoom meeting. November 6 and 7 will be designated for evening, in-person conferences, but some additional opportunities are also possible.
A consolidation of grade-level teacher conference sign-up links are provided in the attachment below. Specials Teachers and Ancillary Staff will reach out to parents if they have any critical concerns and are not included in the provided document. Specials teachers - who are shared between buildings - may be in the building and available for informal drop-in conversations. Staff Recognition - Distinguished Dragon
Throughout the school year, if you would like to recognize a staff member from Webber, we encourage you to submit a Distinguished Dragon nomination. The intent of the Distinguished Dragon program is to ensure that staff members who go above and beyond their regular duties are appreciated. The additional effort or support can range from helping an individual to helping a group or any effort that seems worthy of praise.
The staff member can be nominated by a student, parent, community member or a colleague by completing the form at LakeOrionSchools.org/DistinguishedDragon. We ask for the submitter's name and contact information to follow up with specific questions if necessary. Please make sure to select the appropriate school/department form so the message is routed in the proper direction.
Please complete the form entirely so the individual can be appropriately honored for their contributions.
