Shepherd High School Weekly Update
19 August 2024
Brief Message From the Principal
After two weeks of school I am feeling great about the 2024-2025 school year! Students and staff have been exceptional and we are getting into the routine of being back in school. During the week of September 9th each class will be working to write a social contract. This is a document created together by staff and students outlining how they all agree that the classroom will self-manage.
- Mr. Cornwell, SHS Principal
Staff, district wide, was trained in Capturing Kids Hearts (CKH) before the start of the school year. CKH is a intended to equip staff in meaningful in order to implement transformation processes focused on: cultivating relational capacity, improving school culture, strengthen trust, build self-managing classrooms, create accountability, improve academic performance and foster trauma-informed care. Using the EXCEL framework, teachers are focusing on Engaging with students with a greeting and getting to know them. Your student may be asked to share a "Good Thing" with their class too. These practices are all part of our process of creating a culture of trust and respect throughout our building.

We have a few printed copies in the High School office as well. If you are driving yourself please be careful and please do your best to manage your time so that you arrive at both CTE and at SHS on time.
