Reminder: Grow Your Own Grant

For those of you applying for the Grow Your Own Grant, the deadline to submit questions for the FAQ document is this Friday, October 5th. The FAQ document will be released in the Grant Opportunities Page on Friday, October 12th.

Statewide Federal Grants Training on October 8th - Cory Green, Presenter

The TEA Department of Contracts, Grants and Financial Administration will be hosting a free statewide training on October 8, 2018, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, at the Region 17 Education Service Center in Lubbock, Texas.

This training is open to all independent school districts, open-enrollment charter schools, education service centers, and any other entities that receive federal education grants from TEA. Education consultants who assist schools with federal grant management and compliance also are welcome to attend.

Title I, Part A Parent & Family Engagement Statewide Initiative

ESSA, Building Capacity (section 1116) has long been a requirement of LEAs and schools, but for many it has been a perfunctory task rather than a useful tool designed to increase parent and family engagement in a way that increases student achievement. This session will provide a quick overview of the ESSA, Building Capacity requirements and strategies to help work innovatively with parents and families. Techniques for working collaboratively with families will be discussed. Session will also include a presentation by a model school who is doing exceptional work with their families. Extensive handouts and resources will be provided.
