July 2024
Dear Huskie Community,
I hope your family is having a wonderful summer.
I want to start by thanking Stephanie Posey for her years of service to Naperville North High School. Stephanie’s impact will echo through the halls of North for many years to come. Working closely with her over the past several years has been invaluable to me as I have been able to grow and learn a great deal from her knowledge and mentorship. Personally and professionally, I will miss seeing her at NNHS daily and wish her the very best as she navigates some family health issues.
Due to the timing of Stephanie’s decision, I have been asked to step in as the Interim Principal for this school year. I am honored to have been selected and hope the decision will make for a smooth transition for the students, staff, and entire community of Naperville North.
Allow me to briefly introduce myself. My name is Jay Wachtel and I have been fortunate to work at Naperville North since 2002. I have been a Business teacher, Career and Technical Education Department Chair, and most recently served as the Assistant Principal of Operations. In 2020-2021, I was Interim Principal for the year while Ms. Posey fulfilled a need at the district office. Prior to becoming a Huskie, I taught for two years at Hinkley High School in Aurora, Colorado and for three years at Libertyville High School in the northern suburbs.
My wife, Jen, and I live in Naperville and our two children, Megan and Jack, are proud NNHS Huskie graduates. Away from school, I enjoy bike riding and spending time in downtown Chicago.
Our school is full of amazing staff and students supported by dedicated parents and caregivers. I truly love the Naperville North High School community and every day I am proud to be a part of it. Whether it has been as a teacher, coach, parent or administrator, my experience has always been terrific. I am very much looking forward to another outstanding year as part of the wonderful NNHS community.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
Sincerely,
Jay Wachtel
