News from WI Alpha Delta Kappa
January 2025
I chose the theme "Flying Together" for the 2024-2026 biennium. Geese are our guiding force behind this theme. They fly further together, support each other when things are tough, take turns leading, cheer progress and are loyal to their purpose. These characteristics follow the guiding principles of Alpha Delta Kappa.

TAKE TURNS LEADING
President Elect Needed
WI Alpha Delta Kappa still needs a member or members to step forward for the position of president elect/co-president elect. With all the exciting chapter happenings that are featured in this newsletter, we need leadership at the state level to encourage these wonderful altruistic and community activities. I am happy to talk with anyone who might be interested about this exciting leadership opportunity. Please reach out to me at: joannemloy@gmail.com or call me at 954-296-6872.
Audit/Budget Chairs
Sonya Stevens and Diane Grunloh, both members of Psi chapter, have stepped forward to take the position of co-Audit/Budget committee chairs. Sonya's experience as a past state president will give her insight on what to be looking for when preparing a biennium budget. Diane has been a member of the Audit committee previously, so she has the experience to know what to look for when the financial documents need to be audited. Thank you, Sonya and Diane, for taking on this committee responsibility for the 2024-2026 biennium.

Executive Board Members
Mary Rambo - Corresponding Secretary
I joined Alpha Delta Kappa in 2008 largely because of the altruistic focus of AΔK. I served on the Nu executive board from 2010-2024 as secretary and president. I have served o the WI Alpha Delta Kappa State Board since 2012 as Sergeant at Arms, President of the Council of Chapter Presidents, and Corresponding Secretary, Ernella Hunziker Grant Chair and Candidate Qualifications committee.
I've had a life-long love of sharing my time and resources with various organizations; church, Boy Scouts of America, Mayo Health Systems (I recently completed crocheting my 200th prayer shawl.), Wisconsin Woodland Owners Association, China Service Ventures, Altoona Compassion Coalition, World Relief, Collective Arts-Eau Claire, Luther Park Bible Camp Feed My People Food Bank and Trinity Women's Giving Circle.
I have sung in choirs (UWEC, church, community) from early childhood to present. I've taught Sunday School and Confirmation, as well as served in various areas at church. I routinely bake treats for a group home across the street from where I reside. My husband and I belong to the Wisconsin Woodland Owners Association, where we meet with other Wisconsin land owners, foresters, and DNR personnel to learn about and engage in managed forest practices at our tree farm in Waupaca County. We have traveled to several countries during our retirement, on mission trips and tours, expanding our world understanding.
My husband, Gary, and I have been married 51 years. We have 3 sons and daughters-in-law, and 9 grandchildren ranging in age from 10 months to 13 years.
Marlea Steiner, State Treasurer
I taught one semester in Waupun after graduating mid-year, one year in Broadhead and the rest of the time in Monroe, my high school alma mater, for a total of 35-1/2 years of teaching mostly business education and at first PE. I have a Bachelors and Masters of Education from UW Whitewater. I have been a 50 year member of the Women of the Moose, having served as chairs, Sr. Regent and Past Regent and hold the highest local degree of College of Regents. I have been a 50 year member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs. I have been secretary, president elect, president, director and many chairs of the organization. I am currently District Treasurer and State Scholarship Chairman.
I have been in Alpha Delta Kappa for over 50 years also. Locally, I have been secretary, president-elect, president, past president and many chairmanships. I am currently Corresponding Secretary for WI Omicron chapter in Monroe. I have been WI State Secretary several times, President Elect, State President, Immediate Past State President and currently State Treasurer for my third term. I have attended numerous State, Regional and International Conferences and Conventions. I am a regioneer because of attending many of those events.
I have received the CAROL award from the Wisconsin Jaycette Organization. I have enjoyed all my organization work and love volunteering in these great organizations. I have met so many exceptional, wonderful, talented, friendly women over the years.
Kim Gloede - Historian
After growing up in Minnesota, I came to Kenosha to teach in the brand new Bilingual Program in 1977 for two years. I then moved to Racine for the rest of my teaching career. I piloted both Bilingual Programs and became the Elementary Coordinator in Racine for a few years. I also taught learning disabled and regular ed, as well as teaching-prep in the UW system. My favorite part of teaching was hands-on science, including starting gardens at several of my schools. I retired from teaching in 2013.
I am married and have two daughters and 9 grandchildren.
I joined WI Alpha Delta Kappa Tau chapter in 2005. I have served in most of the officer and committee positions. I have enjoyed teaching AΔK members several technology topics such as cell-phone use and how to start a website. Some of these were in person and some were via ZOOM to sisters as far away as Hawaii.
I love being a part of my small chapter and wider state organization. These women are my dear friends.
