The Highlighter - June 2024
Superintendent’s Message
On behalf of the staff and I, we want to thank our students, staff, parents, and community for making this another successful school year at St. Johns Public Schools. We will continue to grow as a district and we look forward to seeing everyone in August.
Have a safe and relaxing summer with family & friends!
SJPS Facilities Planning: Take Our Brief Post-Election Survey
On May 7, 2024, the St. Johns community voted on a $92,000,000 school bond proposal with no tax rate increase to address facilities improvements in:
Safety & Security,
A New Early Childhood Center,
Building & Learning Efficiencies, and
Athletic & Fine Arts Facilities
The bond proposal failed with 2,205 no votes and 2,096 yes votes, a difference of 109 votes.
Our district values your feedback and seeks your input as we look to provide the best opportunities for our students and plan for the future of our school district.
Please take 5-10 minutes to complete the survey by June 21 at noon.
The bond proposal was based on several years of planning and review of district needs by the Board of Education, staff, and community input, including public meetings and a community survey.
Staff, parents, and community members are being surveyed again in this process. As we make plans for a path forward, the end goal is to have an overview of our current and projected needs, coupled with community input, allowing the district to continue to effectively and efficiently plan to manage our facilities.
The district will be sharing the survey in various places throughout the next couple of weeks—please only take the survey once.
Thanks for your feedback as we close out the year!
Congratulations Class of 2024!
