Principal Update
A huge thank you to our amazing PTO and parent community for everything you’ve done so far during Staff Appreciation Week! We’ve loved every stop on this journey—yesterday we fueled up at a Brazilian coffee bar (my favorite daily pick-me-up!), and we wrapped up the week in France with delicious crepes. What a fun and thoughtful way to celebrate—thank you for making us feel so appreciated! A special thanks to all the families who went above and beyond with individual donations—your generosity and thoughtfulness mean so much to me and our staff.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing moms, grandmothers, and mother figures in our Rose community! Your love, strength, and support shape the lives of your children—and make our school a better place every day. Whether you're offering a listening ear, packing lunches, helping with homework, or simply showing up with love, please know how much we appreciate you. Wishing you a joyful day filled with love, laughter, and moments that remind you just how much you’re valued and appreciated!
Best,
Dr. Ruesch

Dance for a Purpose
Aarohi Chatterjee, a junior at Barrington High School and an alumnus of Rose Elementary is running an event this summer on August 16th. The Dance Without Boundaries Club at the high school, which aims to connect cultures through various dance forms, in conjunction with a non-profit called Dance for a Purpose is raising money this summer for multiple charities through a performance of South Asian dance styles and they are looking for volunteer performers.
Dolly Parton's Imagination Library
The ELC, Barrington 220 Educational Foundation, and Lake County Regional Office of Education Foundation are thrilled to partner in bringing free books to young children in our community, from birth to age five! Please take a moment to review the flyer below and sign up your child (if they are between birth and 4 years old) to receive these wonderful free books.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Michelle Tapia, ELC Principal, at macosta@barrington220.org or 224-770-4300.
Book Drive
Rose School is hosting a Book Drive for Bernie's Books. We are accepting books for children from birth through HS. The Book Drive will continue until May 30th. Not accepted: sticker and activity books, adult books, textbooks, or books that are damaged.
Summer Library
The Rose School Library will be open to Barrington 220 families during the month of June.
On Wednesdays, from 1:00 to 3:00, students can hear a staff member read aloud, play games, do an activity and, of course, check out library books! All activities will take place in the library.
Stop by on June 4, 11, 18 and 25!
This is not a drop off event. Students must be accompanied by a caregiver. Due to construction, the library will not be open in July or August.
5th Grade Human Growth and Development Unit
As you may know, our fifth-grade students learn about human growth and development as part of our science and health curriculum. Your child will work through these two lessons on the following date(s): May 13th and 14th.
These short lessons focus on changes associated with puberty - physical, social, and emotional changes, as well as personal hygiene, and positive health choices. We understand that the parent/caregiver is the primary educator for topics of this nature, and we are committed to this partnership. The lessons and materials that we use in our instruction are linked below for you to preview, along with additional resources for your reference.
If you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher, and if you wish to have your child excused from this unit, please contact your school principal Dr. Cindy Ruesch cruesch@barrington220.org
Back to School Bash
The Willow Creek Back to School Bash will be held on Thursday, July 24th, and Friday, July 25th, from 3-8pm. The goal is to provide families in need in our community with free backpacks, school supplies, clothing, hair cuts, dental exams, and more so that students can walk into their classrooms feeling confident as they begin a new school year.
