It was another great week at BWMS.

Students are now getting into the time when assessments and monitoring of progress occurs. In fact if you can believe it, next Friday is the mid-point of the 1st quarter. We call these Grade Update Days and we work to have an updated progress in PowerSchool for families to review student work. With conferences just around the corner, this will be a great time for you to check marks and monitor specific goals you may have set with your child before the school year began. At BWMS, we will have two nights of conferences in the 1st quarter scheduled for Tuesday 9/26/23 and Thursday 10/5/23. We have designated 3:30PM-5:30PM conferences to be virtual and 6:00PM-7:30PM conferences to be in-person on 9/26/23. For your convenience, we will flip this rotation for our next conference night on 10/5/23. We will be sharing the online sign up soon. Overall, we look forward to partnering with you to support your student's growth in 2023!

• The Knights of Columbus are having a New Winter Coat give-away at St. John Neumann Church this Saturday 9/9/23 at 10 AM. If your child needs a coat for winter, please feel free to attend this event.
  
• The last day to guarantee a t-shirt from the Big Nut Strut is 9/13/23. See sign up details below to support our BWMS PTO on 10/8/23.
• BWMS invites parents to stop and grab a coffee or breakfast at the Trading and Coffee Truck on Friday 9/15/23 from 7:15AM - 7:45AM. The coffee truck will be available in the lower parking lot in front of the school. Please see the flyer below.
• Mid point of the 1st quarter is Friday 9/15/23. We call these Grade Update Days and we encourage all parents to log into PowerSchool to check the progress of their student's performance. We will share out the link to sign up for the first Parent Teacher Conference Night soon.
  
• Fair Day / Teacher PD Waiver Day is Monday 9/18/23. Students do not have school.
  
• BWMS Spirit Week is coming! Stay tuned for more information and spirit days from our Student Council as we prepare to cheer the Eagles to victory for their homecoming game on Friday 9/22/23.
• Did you know you can add auto-replenish to your child's lunch account. Click the PaySchools Central button below to set it up.

We are in year three of establishing the Builders Club here at Big Walnut Middle School. We want to thank you for your efforts in helping us recruit kids; this would not be possible without the student participation. Builders Club meets Wednesdays after school to support our community.

We have a list of items that we can complete to be considered for the "Distinguished Club" award. In 2022, we did not get enough completed, but we were able to be named "Honor Club." This past year, we did it. Only seven clubs in Ohio met the criteria and we were one of them. We also had the ONLY officer to receive an award in the state, Sam Rippe!

All 7th grade students are required to have an updated Tdap and meningitis vaccine. We would ask that parents provide written proof of immunization or a letter of objection to the school within the first two weeks of school.
