January MILE Message
Families,
Thank you for generously showing your appreciation of our staff before the holidays! They felt loved and seen! We appreciate your kindness!
We cannot wait to welcome our students back on Wednesday! The spring semester promises to be filled with learning and fun! Our students will participate in middle of the year speed interviews on Friday, January 24, and we need your help! We will provide the questions, but we need LOTS of volunteers to make this day successful! You can volunteer for 1 period or several...whatever works for you!
Thanks,
Dr. Blake

Campus Expectations
Cell Phones
All phones and headphones must be turned off and stored away.
During the instructional block, students are required to turn off their cell phones and headphones and place the cell phone in the designated storage location. Headphones will be stored in the student’s backpack during the instructional block. This will help create a more focused learning environment and prevent distractions.
Instructional Activities Requiring Apps
In the event that a teacher guides an instructional activity that may require the use of a cell phone app, the teacher will set clear expectations for that activity. This ensures that cell phones are used for educational purposes only.
Hallway and Common Area Device Usage
During passing periods and lunch, students are permitted to use their cell phones and headphones.
During instructional blocks, students should not have/use their cell phones or headphones in hallways, common areas, and restrooms.
*Please note that cell phones are not permitted to be used in the restroom for video and picture purposes per Texas State Law.
Consequences for Unauthorized Cell Phone Use
If a student is found to have their cell phone out during the instructional block when the device should be stored away, the teacher will confiscate the cell phone until the end of the class. This will be documented in Skyward as a warning, and the teacher will make parent contact.
For a second violation, a referral will be issued, and the cell phone will be dropped off and picked up in the office for 5 days during the class period the student attends at The MILE.
If a student refuses to hand over their phone, a referral will be written immediately.
Please call 469-856-5900 if you need to reach your student. We would happy to relay a message or have the student call you back.
Student Identification Protocols
All students will wear a badge upon entrance into the building and keep it visible around their necks throughout the entire school day.
If a student does not have their badge, the student must either purchase a new badge for $5 or a temporary badge for $1 upon entrance into the building. The temporary badge must be visible and placed on the student’s torso.
Student Dress Code
Students will follow the dress code guidelines outlined in the student handbook.
When a student is out of dress code, the student will be sent to the front office. If the issue can be corrected, a warning will be entered in Skyward, and the student will return to class.
1st and 2nd Violation: Written Warning and Copy of Dress Code
3rd or more: Referral and Consequence According to Home Campus
If the issue cannot be corrected, the administrator will document the violation in Skyward and consequences will be issued according to home campus.
